Is this the start by PCC to charge for parking in Central Park to pave the way for Brent to sell his car park?

£1 pound an hour to park at the park, Plymouth rate payer needs to fight this, the charges is to enable Brent to sell his car park to a private company. The life centre will be hit and the residents we be hit with more parking in their street 7 days a week

Disgusting but not at all surprising - and another thing to add to my list of things to raise with that idiot Tudor Evans....... if he does honour his offer to talk to people who have concerns about the development of course. Not holding my breath or sitting by the phone.....

It appears that some people on here called it correctly again.

Wait for the usual missive from the council about budget cuts, getting value for Plymouth council tax payers, enviromental credentials etc etc

Good spot TGWU. The council will easily bluster it's way out of it because of the rafts of austerity measures put in place to repay the monies lost to the crooks in the banking industry. Now we have another raft of thefts coming from the crooks enablers the petty politicians of this country.
All for one and one for all, with the one being anything of value and the all being the same old faces.

It would appear that this proposal doesn't include the Life Centre car parking - which would remain free. So the very spaces set aside to encourage people to use the Life Centre and all the associated health benefits will be used by shoppers and cinema users. Well done PCC yet again.

Surely this puts up the price of park and ride as well? I sometimes use the George park and ride, free parking with a return to and from Plymouth costing a couple of quid on the bus. Now we have to add to that the cost of £1 for every hour we are in town?
£2.70 each to travel to city centre or £5.40 for me and the missus against £3.60 to drive into town and park for three hours, ad on three quid to park at the George and it becomes £8.40 V £3.60. You couldn't use p&r for going to work as we are only allowed a maximum stay of 6 hours? This can't be right? scratch

It was bound to happen as why else would they approve an underground carpark that charges when there is a massive free one next door and another smaller one by the life centre. It would cost Brent precious money he craves and we cant have that now can we.

I might stand corrected, the car park is not all under ground

As we said all along but who would listen to the freaks and weirdos, I mean what do they know.
I expect there will be a charge for the Life Centre soon enough with passes given out to members.
Maybe I shouldn't have said that

Just to add, as these notices are not exactly user friendly, is it a definate that schedule 2 is related to schedule 1?
I assumed that it was about bringing the park and rides into the same category as off street parking, which would not be the same as the planned schedule for Cremyll Ferry car park

Many regular users of the Life Centre aren't members though, for example bowlers, swimmers, netball players and 5 a side footballers. It would cause mayhem at reception working out who was entitled to get their parking fees refunded, adding to the queues at peak times.

What I meant was a parking pass given to people that pay a monthly charge thus becoming members.
If you are not one of these members then you had better join up to receive the benefit.
That so called public purse must be jangling in anticipation

How many cinemas, ice rinks and mini malls charge for parking? People won't turn up if they have to pay for parking on top of everything else!

That's how I'd read it. You couldn't charge for the P&R unless the bus was free (well not if you wanted people to use it) and I can't see the Council paying for the buses. Plus of course you can't make it impossible to park in town all day to go to work, and set up a P&R where you're limited to a certain number of hours that are less than most people's working day.

I can see a daily rate and slightly cheaper bus on the horizon, though.

It's as big a feck up as his club is. Getting planning permission is no guarantee of all of this being completed.

How many park and rides charge their customers more to use their carpark and/or bus over parking on a street near by?

The schedule of car parks that the P&R sites are being added to include many free sites.

Might be an administrative exercise to add them to schedule, but seems too much of a coincidence in these cynical times

Goes along with the extension of parking charges way into the evenings, I reckon.

After all, those Plymouth Ocean City signs won't pay for themselves.

It goes deeper than that tough Peggy, central government is stealing more and more from us via local councils all the time, those trillion dollar debts won't go away without the proles forking out.
There are many parallels between the way Argyle has been run and the way the country has been run, piss poor springs to mind.

Totally agree, Iggster. Having said that, though, it's the quality of decisions being made here that concerns me. Like the extension of parking charges and the granting of planning permission to out-of-town developments (including HHP) when the Council's supposed to be trying to revive the city centre, like the ridiculously expensive 'rebranding' exercise when the city's supposed to be on the verge of being broke, like the constant forelock-tugging to any wealthy individual who appears on the horizon, regardless of the needs of the average citizen ...
