| Been watching the Handball as I had no idea what the hell it was before the Olympics started
Is actually quite a decent little sport and a bit gutted I didn't apply for tickets now. However viewing from home is made even better by watching the Swedish womens team
Edit to add - example of prime Swedish Handball talent for everyone to enjoy |

| The conclusion I draw from all of these posts is that none of you are really interested in the Olympics at all. You are just a bunch of pervy old gits living in a dream world.
Son, I'm ashamed of you for joining in. |

| Warning to anyone inspired by the cycling events - Central Park has more dogs roaming free than London and Surrey. And cycle seats are not designed for sitting on. And it hurts like hell when you fall off. |

| And a lack of business for all the local businesses, while all the big multi national sponsors and well heeled day trippers have a traffic free day in and out of Weymouth.. just as planned.... a sort of official area-wide Prescott bus lane, all effected by simple media warnings of Olympic traffic blight ....easy peasy.
And the same multis that can't be bothered to turn up and watch some sport they're not even interested in, while normal sport fans can't get a seat for love nor money. I remember a comment by Plymouth Council regarding the £15 to £20m the World Cup would have cost local taxpayers in traffic arrangements etc. Their comment was basically that only a few big national companies would have made money through the World Cup, not the City, and most of the trailed extra temporary jobs would have been shipped in. |

| I went to Weymouth last week before the games had started and the route into the town had big flashing signs for miles and miles telling motorists there would be long delays during the games and to take the park and ride. This was a mile or two out of the town centre and there must have 100 double decker buses parked up, 4 days before the Friday the games started. The park and ride charge has about trebled from the normal rate, and speaking to people from Weymouth, they all seemed pissed off with the expected extra footfall as the harbourside where all of the activities are taking place, were already set up with all the big companies stalls and tents, and the town businesses themselves probably wouldn't really notice the difference. What has baffled me is I thought the beach volleyball was taking part in Weymouth, as the far corner of the beach has been cordoned off and there are stages, temporary stands etc and turnstiles set up on the entrance to the beach, but the beach volleyball is all taking place in London There is fencing all around this area and it has blue sheeting around it so you can't look through, which stretches right along to the pier. This area is way too far away to see the sailing clearly, so I don't know what people are expecting to watch and most likely pay handsomely to watch there? |

| Are you talking about the Lithuanian Janner Buuuuurrrrdddd who's just won Gold in the breaststroke?
Foster's got his answer, she's down here because she's been trained to Olympic Gold Medal standards by Jon Rudd - well done him and her. |

That was an ace effort either way. Feel sorry for the Ukrainians, at least we had bronze to fall back on. |

While getting a few plugs in for Plymouth College. Isn't that what this is all about, though - with Tom Daley (and Tonia Couch?), they're marketing themselves as a special swimming school, aren't they? |

| Some numpty on twatter was abusing Tom Daley straight after the diving finished. Said he's let his father down, who died of cancer recently.
I bet whoever it was is a fat slob sat on his sofa eating junk food and can't even swim.
Tom Daley even refused his partners apology for messing up a dive, said it was a team effort. What a gracious young man. Hope he wins a medal in the individual. |

Son, I'm ashamed of you for joining in. Not at all. I watched the women's weightlifting today and was very impressed with the Thailand girl's snatch. |

Let's be honest here Jock, Tom ain't a team man, so it's a bit pointless him being in a team. The Chinese were streets ahead and the Mexicans deserve it for their bottle and cavalier approach. Some people lose it at big events, some don't ... that's where the difference lays .... well ... unless you're so much better like the Chinese were. He's an individual performer and I look forward to seeing him compete on his own .... he's a consumate competitor, and I would like to see how all the effort comes to fruition. I was saddened that his team mate felt the need to say it was all his own fault ... fall on his own sword as it were. He's already won one silver medal and Tom has already blown out one partner ... that says a lot. Let's hope Tom's coach wasn't right about too much media, not enough work ... it wouldn't be the first time a young sports star blew it at an early age. He's a strong minded cuss, best for him to work for himself alone. Everything being someone else's fault could be coming a pattern ... even his moving to a far better school was down to his school mates apparently and nothing at all to do with the fact he'd get better coaching and teaching opportunities at a better school. |

| Oops ...even Argyle green has got a mention now.... she was wearing 'Plymouth Argyle green' according to the pundits. That 15 year old has given the city more publicity than Tom Daley, Harry Corbett and Tudor Evans put together |
