The BBC HD channels are superb. There's loads of them.
The fencing was astonishing. I don't really understand it and it isn't something I'd choose to watch normally but the presentation was jaw dropping - it looked like something from a sci-fi film.
Bit of an improvement on Fatima Whitbread [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I'll be keeping an eye on the sport (although not as mush as previous tournaments) but I have no interest in all the pomp and ceremony. I've always found opening and closing ceremonies boring, so I didn't bother tuning in for this one. I watched the 'Queen / James Bond bit on youtube after hearing about it, and found it knuckle-chewingly embarrasing. Pretty much like everything else that tends to go on in these opening ceremonies.
I think my lack of enthusiasm for these games has been triggered by having the whole corporate smothering of the event shoved down my throat. If the Olympics were in another country the corporate bulls*** would still be occurring, but we wouldn't get exposed to it all so much. I actually thought that France getting the games would have been the best option (sport still taking place at a reasonably hour for British audiences, but we don't have to foot the bill for it)! |

| Yep, considering the dutch girl was the red hot favourite, she did really well. Really good watch for over an hour. |

| The Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle final was astonishing, the Septics looked like they had it in the bag after 3 of the 4 legs, but the final French swimmer went through the water like a jetski. An astonishing finish and a well-deserved gold for the French. |
