No, I'm with you on this - the whole circus surrounding the lad is getting right on my conkers. GB won a gold in the boxing last night at the same time as Daley was diving. I bet most people didn't realise it, and even fewer could name the boxer. |

Nope not just you. He only won a bronze There's British people that have won two medals including two golds. They deserve more praise and credit. |

Team GB has won 28 Gold medals and 15 Silver so far, and yet this lad gets a bronze and gets more column space then probably all of these put together!! Insane absolutely insane I see in the Herald the daily dose of Daley (no pun) has increased to 3 THREE separate articles today |

| I know what you mean about Tom Daly, he has been the pin-up boy of the games but he is still very young and it was good to see someone so excited and happy to take a bronze medal, rather than be a miserable git who only wanted gold.
I watched the Mo Farah race again this morning and the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. That must have such a positive effect on the British athletes.
Now I wonder if some people will still moan about immigrants coming over here and being lazy, taking benefits etc. Farah came over from Somalia as a youngster and has totally embraced the British way of life and done nothing but work and work to get to where he is now, the best long distance runner in the world. Ok he has had to move to the USA to get the best training but for me that just shows how driven and dedicated he is.
The Olympics will never be like this again for me, and GB will never win anywhere near the same amount of medals again, especially golds, but it has been brilliant viewing. |

| What a bunch of killjoys and saddos. He is getting praise on here and the other site because he is a Plymouth lad, not due to the colour or number of medals he has won. Why can't Janners give a bit of praise to one of their own, someone who has put in hour upon hour and year upon year of dedicated training to reach such a level in a sport where the margin for error is so small. Oh, and you need balls as well to jump off a 10m board never mind do twists and somersaults in the 1.6 seconds it takes to hit the water. If you can't show a bit of support for a local lad who has done well for himself then keep stum. |

I don't think anyone's questioning the skill and dedication he's shown. My beef with the whole thing is the way others (who've shown just as much dedication, and in some cases more skill) are virtually ignored in favour of Tom Daley. Team GB won 3 golds yesterday. Mo Farah (rightly) gets a fair amount of coverage and praise for a quite extraordinary achievement. The other two golds (go on, without using a search engine, name the athletes) are largely ignored. The big story yesterday was a bronze in the diving. Why? |

| Swampy I appreciate your support of a local lad who won a bronze medal in the Olympics, but he has had media coverage out of all proportion compared to others who have won gold medals.
Also please don’t come onto this open forum and tell people to Keep schtum because they have a different point of view to you that is a farm ploy not an ATD one. |

| He entered the Olympics the first time around at an unusually young age thus making the public eye frequently and becoming a sweetheart to all the mothers out there and that interest has been retained as he's gained further success.
The media provided what the public wanted, it's simply demand. I feel a bit sorry for the lad and I don't think the huge coverage he's had hasn't done him or his fellow competitors many favors. Plymouth has been pretty well represented at the Olympics, but how many have we heard about? There's also the local petty bitterness and jealousy that he's had to put up with and the rumors circulating regarding him and his family, most of which are untrue and the ones that are are no different to the issues that all families have to deal with.
Last day of the Olympics today and I think it's been a huge success for Great Britain, both on the track and off it. For the past fortnight I've forgotten what a bloody awful state our country is in and what a pishpot of a football club we support. I will miss the Olympics but it's been a reminder of how important it is to have a club to support that sometimes produces a little success, it's a gift of feelgood factor that as Argyle fans we've always been denied while we've sat back and watched most other areas of the country benefit from such a gift.

| He has obviously had more media coverage down here, that's only natural. Nationally other high profile athletes such as Mo, Ennis, Wiggins etc have had more media coverage and rightly so. He has had as much media coverage nationally as some of the gold medalists in other lower profile sports largely because he was a well known name coming into the Olympics who we had high hopes for despite the fine margins. He was our youngest competitior at the last Olympics, he was a European champion and world championship medallist, the death of his father received high media coverage last year, he is a bit of a poster boy etc. so his profile was not surprisingly already higher than the athletes who struck gold in kayaking, boxing, the elitist dressage etc. At a time when a local lad has done well for himself I think it is sad that some have to spoil the moment with their comments, that's all. |

| Have to say these Olympics have been really, really well done, well organised, and Team GB has well and truly come to the party, and to finish third in the medal table is an astonishing success. There's a really strong feelgood factor around as a result. So after the closing ceremony, it's back to normal. Good memories though. |
