What happened to the (relatively speaking ;-) ) moderate ATD'ers?, everyone seems on the rabid end of the scale these days. I'm still here. |

McHugh/ Purrington replacing Blackman and Reckord Nelson who is now a year older Hartley replacing Trotman Mellor replacing Berry O'Connor replacing Blizzard in the CDM role.
Hourihane didn't win as many tackles as the likes of what O'Connor will and quite often picked up bookings but he did put players on the ball on a lot of pressure.
Clearly those who doubted his ability when he left us (there were a few) are being proved wrong as he has already won August League 1 player of the month and most be one of the favourites to win the September player of the month.
How much did the club receive for Hourihane? I know it was £200k plus add one but £100k went to the balloon payment and Ipswich had a sell on clause on him. between 60-80k there were no add ons Angry don't want to start an argument with you over it but the club statement (from the board) when Hourihane was sold; "The agreement with Barnsley provides for a comprehensive series of add-ons which should produce additional revenue in the future as well as a basic transfer fee which is to be paid on the player's registration with Barnsley." |

| So how much money did go into the playing squad? I take it majority of it will go to the balloon payment and another sum of it went to Ipswich as they had a sell on clause, Barnsley have had an absolute bargain there and shame on the board for not trying to push the boat and just accepting peanuts. I'm not going to write him off but the fact Hourihane's replacement was a unwanted reject from a club relegated to non league shows what little sum went towards the playing budget.
I guess we may as well get used to it.

Even so they arent going to recoup anything like the £100,000 plus given to the CVA and Ipswich's cut so its still very bad buisness deal whether you include them or not and even so they are only activated apon connor reaching certain milestones. |

50% for the balloon payment (£100k) Quote from Herald "Hourihane’s former club, Ipswich Town, are also entitled to a small sell-on." Assuming the "small sell-on" clause is between 5 and 10% that would leave Argyle with £90k-£95k. At a guess I would say 25%-50% of this would not be spent on the playing budget. So based these figures (based on assumptions) Sheridan would of had £45k to spend on a player. This works out at £865 per week in wages (based on a 12 month contract). |

Wish I had your brains tagz, I probably wouldn't of worked that out in the month of sundays |

Don't forget to subtract Hourihane's wages from that. |

I'm just pragmatic, and I'm not in anyone's 'gang', least of all yours but not Ian Newell's either. I don't like being in league 2 any more than the next man. But if James Brent is keeping the life support on then he beats the grim reaper all ends up.
.....not that it's got anything to do with Conor Hourihane or John Sheridan of course. Cuz eee saved our football club. Change the record it was the council and it wasn't him it would have been someone else and there were alternatives just none backed by the council or all your pasoti mates |

If it was possible to disagree more than 100% I would. I bet Shez would have him back in an instant. The boy is a top class footballer and would walk his way into any div2 team. |

| All their fans I've seen say they're struggling in spite of him not because of him.
Search his name on Twitter and many of their fans are fearing he'll be sold in January. |

Agreed...I've said this before and I'll say it again: we'll make more off him in sell ons than the actual fee itself. |
