I like Quentin Crisp's take on cleaning and dusting - "After the first three years it doesn't get any worse."

My own strawberries so freshly picked the plant doesn't even know they've gone. A gert dollop of clotted cream. A glass of nicely chilled pinot. The setting sun. Ansum!

On more mundane matters, I've now got two young thrushes in my back passage. They come and go. Unlike the slow-worm recently which went and died.

Thrushes are now comparetivly rare compared to their cousins the Blackbird and the Robin. Think it is to do with slug poison.

Perhaps your back passage is not the best of places for them.

Went out for my tea and came home to find Greenjock inviting SS68 to have a threesome with him and my son. I may not live past tomorrow, I could end it all.

With the school summer holidays rapidly approaching, I've been stocking up on material designed to keep small people entertained and/or occupied when it rains. Naturally, being a responsible adult, I've also been undertaking the important task of checking out said material for its endurance and/or suitability. As part of this ongoing process, I watched Despicable Me last night. Not only was it very good (Bank of Evil - formerly known as Lehman Brothers) but the DVD also includes some short films - one of which is called Banana.

That Mike Flood on Fireman Sam. He's just left the house with the iron on, resting on the ironing board and has set fire to his house. Station Officer Steele is all over it though. Jupiter dispatched, Sam and Elvis aboard with Steele on Venus in support. There's a lot of smoke but no lasting damage.
Mike's daughter Mandy went mental about it all but is laughing now. Cue the music.

The levels of stupidity in Fireman Sam village are mind-blowing, they really are.

As small people grow slightly bigger, the downside is that they lose a bit of the 'aah' factor. On the upside, though, the adults in their lives are spared having to watch any more of that excrescence.

Just the other day Elvis left his pie on top of Jupiter to cool off. What happens next? They get a shout, Jupiter tears off up the road and the pie ends up on the floor. I'm not even too sure what the lesson was apart from never leave your pie to cool on top of an emergency vehicle.

Plants require a number of "inputs" in order to grow. Most importantly, Carbon dioxide (CO2), light and water. They also require an appropriate temperature (this temperature ranges and varies depending on the plant) in order to metabolize these inputs to turn them into a usable source of energy.
I'm assuming you are living in a warm climate where the grass does in fact grow year round (but slows down in the winter)... or perhaps it goes brown and "dormant" in the winter. Both are the physiological response to an environmental trigger within the plant. This is most likely a result of cooler temperatures, shorter exposure to sun (shorter days), and a poorer light angle (the earth tilts, and the light hits the plant at a different angle).

C&P at it's best.

Norman Price is responsible for 50% of all incidents that fireman Sam is called to in Pontypandy. If I lived there I would be demanding a discounted council tax because without Norman causing havoc there wouldn't be that much for them all to do.

Equipment like Jupiter isn't cheap you know!

I'm not sure if his father is dead or if he just did a runner but you never see or hear from him. Looking at Mrs Price I reckon he sneaked out on boxing day to watch football and never returned. This lack of authority is clearly affecting young Norman though. Perhaps they ought to have an army cadets or st john ambulance in Pontypandy, it might be just what Norman needs? That or a good fuckin beating from Elvis, either would be worth trying.

It's what grass does in the growing season....problem is the councils green recycling bin (why is it brown ?) is already full...not being emptied till Friday....can't afford to pay for two.
