| City will receive £750k for Stockley and there's almost certainly a sell on clause as well so it was another bit of good business by them. Can you imagine us shelling out £100k on anybody?
They were able to pay that cash because of their great business with transfers over the last few years. Ollie Watkins, Ethan Ampadu and Matt Grimes sales will add up to a tidy little sum.
Why wasn't Stockley on our radar? We had piles of cash from the Liverpool games yet were left behind hoovering up freebies like Simon Church who hadn't played for months.
City may have just thrown away their chance of promotion this season by selling Stockley but so many clubs were interested in him that he was going no matter what they did but at 25 there's still time for him to move on again for big money which they will get their slice of so he could end up earning them another couple of million quid.
Which brings us nicely to Freddie Ladapo. Also 25 and has a similar profile with lots of loan moves on his CV which shows that clubs saw something in him but couldn't get the best out of him until now.
Now what are the chances of us selling Freddie to someone for £750k plus add-ons? He's scoring goals in a higher league after all. More likely is we'll sell him to another League 1 club for around £50k and think it's good business because we got him on a free.
That shows me that the club is amateur run from top to bottom because we aren't producing the youth that our six toed cousins are and our dealings in the transfer market are terrible.
City now have to kick on with the extra finance they have and get promoted and stay in League 1 for a few seasons instead of going straight back down otherwise it's all been a waste of time for them. If they're still in League 2 in 2 or 3 years time and we have managed to stay in League 1 then I'm sure the City fans will be as pissed off as we are.

| It probably helps that us six toed sloths have a reputation for developing players, rather than just signing them and letting them sit on the bench. A direct quote from Randell Williams who City signed from Watford yesterday " “I know how the club develops players. They are really good at it. They have sold quite a lot of players in recent years to top clubs so it is a great place to come and develop and I also know that they are fighting for promotion as well and I would love to be a part of that.”
Now watch us lose heavily at Newport this afternoon.
Good luck against Coventry |

Yesterday they said that there also gunna bring in two players from premier league clubs on loan before the weekend as well then the next interview was with Adams same old bollox making excuses hard to get players in and we’re talking to players apparently and what with little old Exeter with a new grandstand and new away end all on gates of 3500 and there’s us with gates of 10k and a shell of a grandstand we have become a F#%King laughing stock and a joke of a club the way it’s run any other clubs fans would be up in arms but not the grateful dimlows some are still even rimming Brent’s arse unbelievable Say what you like about the greeks at leas their owners are business smart aswell as football smart to cash in well on talent and inject funds back into the club and carry on. |

Good luck against Coventry Yup developing youth is pretty much a non starter at Home Park it seems. Stockley sticks in the craw though for me. He was just up the road from us when you had him on loan and then moved to Scotland so Adams would have known all about him and for £100k we would definitely have made the play-offs last season but £100k for a transfer isn't going to happen for Austerity Argyle. Still I am envious of your scouting and development side of things. I think you'll get a play off place this season so it could turn out to be brilliant business if you can get promoted. If you miss out again this season I can imagine you would be under pressure to go up next year. In theory you're a great business model but then so were Crewe for years and years. Producing a conveyor belt of great young talent and selling them on to PL clubs for huge sums was common place for Crewe but ultimately they're now in League 2 playing to crowds of 3000 despite having a lovely new stand built from the proceeds of these transfers. That's the big conundrum for lower league clubs. |

| Big Robby asked why we didn't sign Stockley with the Liverpool money. Because we signed Blisset from TUFC instead. He remains the Club's only cash signing in 7 years. That's an average of less than 2.2 grand/year on transfer fees-is there any Club in the FL that has spent less?
ECFC have a well deserved reputation for improving players, so this week Watford let them have a player on a free but with a sell-on clause so Watford will benefit from Exeter improving the player, and the player is happy to join a club that will improve him
Apart from Purrington, who have Argyle developed over the last few years? (I see him and Jervis are both back in League 1 btw) So why would a player want to join Argyle.
I think that Argyle is now seen by players as just somewhere to go when you've got few other options and as a way of staying in pro football rather than getting a proper job.
Just look at Threkald, only 2 games in 6 months for a team at the bottom of Belgium's second tier-the world wasn't at his feet in terms of his next move was it |

| My nephew is a very good midfielder about three years ago he applied to Exeter as a youth player. He is an Argyle fan and I asked whether he had applied to Argyle as well? He told me that Argyle academy is more about taking money off you for training and they don't seem to want to develop any players. (He's now discovered drinking and women and is going to uni now btw). |

| Well this is one link dead Goalkeeper Remi Matthews has signed an 18-month contract with Championship club Bolton Wanderers.
The 24-year-old former Plymouth Argyle loan signing has finally left Norwich City for Bolton after a delay in his move.
That was caused by financial issues at Bolton which now seem to have been resolved. |

| Sheffield Wednesday are linked with the former Hibernian defender, Efe Ambrose.
Teamtalk claims Wednesday are hoping to persuade Ambrose into a move to Hillsborough this month, and believe they can land the 30-year-old ahead of rival suitors such as Neil Warnock's Cardiff City.
We don't even get a mention
Ambrose |

Whatever Boltons issues Matthews will be on £10,000 a week plus whereas if he had come here he would have struggled but probably managed to get £3k a week in the end No brainer he went for the dosh |

| exciting last min loan from the championship it is then...
You are trying to sign players before the end of the January transfer window, can you use the fact that there were 10,600 people here today, it was a cracking atmosphere, a cracking game of football and you have got very talented players who have returned to form as a selling point to people? Does that wash witrh people? Or is it just down to finance?
DA: It's down to finance, easy as that.
Is there anything happening on the transfer window front?
DA: No. We are still working on deals, but nothing going in or out at this moment in time.
Anything before Tuesday do you think?
DA: Probably not. |

That might be a factor but not a huge one otherwise the other teams around us would struggle and they havent. |

| Paul Lambert has challenged the players on the fringes of his Ipswich Town first-team to fight for their places. The Blues boss has added six new players to his squad this January and has admitted some players will have to leave on temporary deals if they want to play between now and the end of the season.
“Jordan (Roberts) was one and there were teams who wanted him but things have broken down, been back on and then broken down again “I don’t know what’s happened with it but probably Jordan’s agent has been talking to clubs to see what’s going on. For whatever reason it seems to keep breaking down.”

- The wait for Plymouth Argyle to make their second signing of the January transfer window could last for a while yet.
Manager Derek Adams wants to add two more players to his squad before the deadline.
However, Adams does not expect that to be done any time soon, and possibly not until the last week of the month. He wants to further strengthen his squad as they fight against relegation from League One. Adams told Plymouth Live: “There’s no updates, ins or outs, at this moment in time. We are just continuing to work to try to get players in.
Good luck Derek, am sure there is always another Shiftkey, Church or Miller lurking out there somewhere if time is running out. Surprise surprise. Wait till the end of the month in the hope of a desperado prepared to toil the next 6 months for shit money, or it could be a donkey who's parent club is so desperate to see the back of them they'll take a hit on his wages. Whatever the circumstances you can bet whoever we sign it will be because no one else wants them. |
