| Goalkeeper Remi Matthews will not be returning to Plymouth Argyle during the January transfer window.
The Green Army have been clamouring on social media for the Pilgrims to try and re-sign Matthews on loan from Norwich City.
However, Adams has ruled out that possibility and confirmed that Kyle Letheren is his first choice ‘keeper for now.
Matthews had been set to sign an 18-month contract with Bolton Wanderers this month after spending the first half of the season on loan.
However, Bolton have had financial issues and the 24-year-old has returned to Norwich for the time being.
Matthews became a fans’ favourite as he made 27 appearances on loan to Argyle last season.
So when he put out a message on Twitter last Saturday afternoon that he was at home watching the TV, rather than being at a game, it led to a lot of replies from the Green Army.
They wanted to see Matthews return to Argyle during the January transfer window.
Adams was asked about the possibility of that by Plymouth Live and he replied: “We have got three goalkeepers and we won’t be adding a fourth.
“I obviously know that Remi is back to Norwich and he’s either going to stay at Norwich or probably get sold to another club. I don’t have money to buy him.”
On-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey was an ever present in League One for Argyle until recently.
However, he missed two matches due to a dead leg and was replaced by Letheren.
Macey returned to training before Argyle’s away game against Southend United but he was an unused substitute in the 3-2 win as Letheren stayed in the side.
Adams was asked whether it was a difficult choice for him between Macey and Letheren.
“It’s not difficult at all,” he replied. “Kyle Letheren is in place at this moment in time and that’s how it stands.”
The third goalkeeper on Argyle’s books is 19-year-old prospect Michael Cooper.
His only first team appearance this season came in the 5-0 defeat by Chelsea Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy at Home Park in October.
Adams said: “Michael Cooper is available to go on loan if we find the appropriate club for him.
“It has to be at the right level for him to develop, and at this moment in time that is the National League or League Two.”
So that has ruled out a loan for Cooper to clubs in National League South and below.
Argyle have five of their development squad out on loan to National League South clubs.
The trio of Alex Battle, Jordan Bentley and Dan Rooney are at Truro City, while Harry Hodges and Ryan Law are at Gloucester City. |

| I’m sure Arsenal will be delighted their man is playing 2nd fiddle to a fella with all the athleticism of Steven Hawking and who was released by York in the Conference. I’d honestly have Cooper in over both of them. |

I’d honestly have Cooper in over both of them. Agree why not play young Cooper? Bit of risk taking, a bit of creativity on DA's part - nah play the podgy limited ability Kyle or the big club rookie who flaps like a flag as the crosses come in. Still heading for the drop. |

| good work there Del Bassett.....
DESPITE working hard to bolster his squad this month, Argyle manager Derek Adams says there are no imminent arrivals or indeed outgoings on the transfer front.
Oscar Threlkeld remains Argyle's only acquisition so far in this January window but Derek is hopeful of some movement in the near future.
“There is no update on ins or outs at this moment in time,” said Derek. “We are just continuing to work on trying to get players in."

| Genuine question: Why haven't Argyle brought in any more players during this transfer window? Is it lack of available money or inability to source players? I only ask this because Exeter Have signed Randell Williams from Watford this morning, and it appears that there are lots of players out there that are looking for Clubs. |

Its a few things, 1, lack of cash 2,we pay shit wages 3, we have no scout 4, who would want to come here for a relegation fight for shit money, |

| Thanks Jethro, and without wishing to make any further points (at this time!) City have just signed a left back from Huddersfield for the rest of the season. Jaden Brown seems a highly regarded player with huge potential. Surely there must be players who are available who are better than your leaky defence? I've only seen Argyle play twice this season, but the defence looked uncertain, porous and possibly past their sell by date. |

Well there might be more points other then those 4, there may well be players available that are better then what we have, I don't trust Adams to bring in the right ones, We've had Dyson here scoring goals for fun , in the swpl and central league and he can't even get on the bench, even after Adams chased him for so long to get him here, We've brought Threlkeld back to sit on the bench and instead of looking at our leaky defence and begging Arsenal to take Macey back, we are linked with a forward from Ipswich, Its a mess on and off the pitch, only thing for certain is Adams is here for another four years, unfortunately, |

| Probably because there isn't any money or we're waiting until the end of the window for whatever deadbeats are still left over.
We'll probably sell our best players just before the window shuts as well, so we can't sign any replacements |

| Sold at plymouth prices as well so less than a 1/3 of what they are actually worth. |

The best we can hope for in any January transfer window is not losing our best players. Expect a semi exciting short term loan from the CCC on the 31st if we're lucky. |

We have had seven years of the Brentmare who's greatest achievement according to some bum licky types was to lower expectations, and reward ten thousand fans with shite signings, now we have uncle sam hallet carrying on the same shit policy, sad but true mate. |

| Yep Exeter have signed a replacement for Jayden Stockley for 125k plus Listerning on Radio Devon Yesterday they said that there also gunna bring in two players from premier league clubs on loan before the weekend as well then the next interview was with Adams same old bollox making excuses hard to get players in and we’re talking to players apparently and what with little old Exeter with a new grandstand and new away end all on gates of 3500 and there’s us with gates of 10k and a shell of a grandstand we have become a F#%King laughing stock and a joke of a club the way it’s run any other clubs fans would be up in arms but not the grateful dimlows some are still even rimming Brent’s arse unbelievable |

| The wait for Plymouth Argyle to make their second signing of the January transfer window could last for a while yet. Manager Derek Adams wants to add two more players to his squad before the deadline. However, Adams does not expect that to be done any time soon, and possibly not until the last week of the month. He wants to further strengthen his squad as they fight against relegation from League One. Adams told Plymouth Live: “There’s no updates, ins or outs, at this moment in time. We are just continuing to work to try to get players in. Good luck Derek, am sure there is always another Shiftkey, Church or Miller lurking out there somewhere if time is running out. |
