| Derek Adams is working to bring in two on-loan players to Argyle before the end of the January transfer window, Plymouth Live understands.
One of them appears certain to be a centre-back with Peter Grant set for a loan move to League Two promotion chasers Carlisle United until the end of the season.
Adams is waiting on word from other clubs about potential loan deals before he can press ahead with his plans to add to his squad, with a striker also thought to be on his shopping list.
Therefore, it could be much closer until the 11pm deadline on Thursday before any moves are finalised.
There is also the possibility that Grant might not be the only departure from Home Park this week.
Winger Lionel Ainsworth had a trial with Scottish Premiership side Livingston last month and, although that did not lead to a move, he is thought to be still available to leave.
Ainsworth has been a substitute for recent Argyle games but not come off the bench in any of them. |

| Why's he after another striker when Dyson (who he signed 6 months ago) can't even get on the bench and Taylor has gone from superstriker to seldom seen sub?
Or is someone on the way out? Ladapo to Luton for £100k and Adams will say it's a good deal |

Granted this season has been disappointing and Adams has to take some responsibility for that, but he was working, as he has been ever since he got here, under Brent's austerity programme. He's not perfect, no manager is, but I can't think of many other lower league managers I would rather have here.
When this team plays well, they can beat anyone, Carey, Lamieras and Ladapo would find their way into any team in the League. Defensively, there has been a problem and if that doesn't get better we may pay the ultimate price. Recent signs have been better and I think we'll stay up. There are probably 10 teams in the mix for probably 2 places - assuming Wimbledon and Rochdale don't improve.
As for transfer windows - I can't remember one when we've had an influx of players that have changed things - this one will probably be no different. I would like to see a defender brought in though.
As for Hallett, he's not been in long, I'd prefer to judge him after a full season, see what happens in the close season and the type of players we get in. I'm hanging on to the hope that he can't be any worse than Brent. Agree about Adams. Probably the best we are likely to get given our budget. Don't really agree about Hallett. We're on a knife-edge regarding relegation yet we seem to be operating a 'one-in, one-out' transfer policy. It wouldn't cost too much to bring in a couple of loan signings/free transfers to bolster our chances of survival. Might understand the approach if we were sat in mid-table, but given where we were when January started, we really needed to get a few more bodies in. |

| "results are not so important" SH HALLETT: INVESTMENT FROM THE HEART April 6, 2018 Harding Loevner’s Simon Hallett is maniacal about the firm’s rigorous, disciplined and consistent approach to stock analysis in deciding which companies to invest in for the long term. However when it came to making a substantial personal investment in Plymouth Argyle, a professional English soccer team those rules did not apply. |

1 hour ago 1886JH Ainsworth aka the Jack Rodwell of Argyle.
This has, IMO, been an exceptionally poor transfer window by messers Adams, Dunford & Hallet.
All three knew in November the squad needed freshen up and look where we are....72 hours out before it closes and still scrabbling round for loan signings.
Comment from the daily rag today. Yep all part of the script.

| Not sure we was ever in for him but Darren McCauley has signed for Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle from Coleraine.
The winger's move, subject to international clearance, comes just over three weeks after he was transfer-listed by the Bannsiders.
McCauley, who scored in the final as Coleraine lifted the Irish Cup last season, rejected a new contract to remain at the Showgrounds.
The 27-year-old had also held talks with hometown club Derry City.
He was a focal part of Oran Kearney's Coleraine side which came desperately close to winning the Irish Premiership last season, missing out on the final day of the season in April.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international scored 45 goals in 176 appearances across two spells at Ballycastle Road.
He has scored seven league goals for Coleraine this season, but hasn't played for the club since being made available to other clubs on 4 January. |

| Probably the best time for suggesting this has been a poor transfer window for Argyle will be February 1st and then the end of the season.
Adam’s has implied he wants 2 more signings, with Grant now gone it’s a safe bet there’s a CH coming in, interesting to see if there’s another before the deadline.

| You would hazard a guess that Grant leaving for a loan CB means that. Dyson will be paid off for a loan forward to join. |

Dyson will be paid off for a loan forward to join. Not to sure about that as I think (not sure) he has a 2 year contract |

| In a wierd way the four game winning streak has turned out counter-productive in terms of hammering home the urgency of getting new bodies in. |

I was thinking that too. We'll now go on a 6 match losing run and won't have time to get anyone in |

| Last day tomorrow, have we got enough to limp over the line? Barring major injury and suspension problems I'd probably say yes but with the other teams down around us picking up points too it's gonna be a slog. |

| Probanly be like most years we will sign bugger all. We need to be careful with suspensions. Sarcevic is not far away from five yellows this season. |
