| Sad thing is that administration was trying to be avoided but if there is one slippery fish it may be forced on them to go down that route. |

| Here we go again. Same old brinkmanship involving a community sports enterprise, just like the speedway, with one interest playing against another. It's so boring when one isn't one of the parties. What's the betting, Albion will be playing rugby union in Plymouth at the Brickfields next season ? 20 to 1 on, I would say. The one interesting thing in all of it has been the reference to education capital building budgets, but that gold rush is a whole different subject. |

| Yes it is who was expected and I anticipate there may be one or two "names" involved somewhere as well.
Do they have wonga? Certainly, and they also know how to get more! Priday was quite involved in the Chiefs a few years ago and in particular their financial structures to get Sandy Park off the ground.
This is not a Brent type takeover as they both are definite rugby men, so expect top level rugby to be on the agenda and also some other ideas to increase revenues. Its to be expected that any plans would have already been given the green light by PCC.
Thats why I said in an earlier post that Brent may have missed the boat once more regarding his attempts to get conferencing at HP, I expect these 2 + ? to not only talk the talk but do the walking as well. |

| PUBLIC money was used to prop up cash-strapped Plymouth Albion months before the club was plunged into administration, it has been revealed.
Taxpayers bailed out the city's premier rugby club to the tune of around £200,000 in 2014 - when then-bosses were trying to avoid a cash crisis.
Albion subsequently fell into administration and have now been taken over by new owners in a deal that sees them rescued - but docked 30 points.
Plymouth City Council says the £170,000 still owed by the club will be repaid in full, meaning taxpayers will not be left out of pocket.
Council chiefs also moved to reassure city people over the future of Albion's Brickfields stadium.
New owners Bruce Priday and David Venables, who played together for Albion in the 1980s, both have a string of other business interests.
That has prompted some fans to speculate about the future of the Devonport-based ground.
Neither Priday or Venables have yet spoken publicly about their plans for the club - other than to say in a joint statement that they have "serious plans to develop an infrastructure and team that can play at the highest level".
But council bosses have emphasised that Brickfields is legally protected for leisure use thanks to a covenant on the site.
That is believed to have been placed on the land when it was handed over as a gift to the city of Plymouth by previous owner the Ministry of Defence.
The council owns the freehold to the stadium and the 'pre-packed' administration which has seen the club change hands does not affect that.
However, some fans still fear that parts of the site near Kings Road could be built on if planning permission was granted.
A council spokesperson said: "We welcome the acquisition of the club by new owners as it is a positive outcome for Plymouth and for professional sport in the city.
"The council has worked hard to support Plymouth Albion over the years as we recognise its importance to the community and to the development of sporting opportunities in the city.
"This support has included making a secured loan to the club in 2014 to help keep it solvent.
"The balance of £170,000 is guaranteed and will be repaid to the council.
"The freehold of Brickfields remains with the council and it is protected as an asset in the event of any administration.
"There is also a covenant in place protecting its use as a leisure site."
Priday and Venables were rumoured to be interested in taking over Albion when the club hit financial difficulties in September 2014.
It was following those cash struggles that the council provided the six-figure loan around three months later.
The pair have now taken over the club through a new company, Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club (2016) Limited.
The Exeter-registered company was originally set up in February in London as Safeguard Restoration Limited and changed its name on April 5.
Companies House records show that Priday and Venables were both appointed directors the same day – just over a week after Albion announced their intention to appoint an administrator and publically revealed their search for new owners.
Priday, 58, is the chairman of Exeter-based financial and legal firm Prydis.
He has also been a director on the board of several holiday lettings companies which rent out cottages across Devon.
Priday was also briefly a director of London and Westcountry Estates, which owned several of Plymouth's major business parks – including Faraday Mill – before collapsing into administration in 2012.
He has been heavily involved in several charities – most notably the Wooden Spoon – and recently completed a 300-mile coastal walk to raise cash for good causes in the Exeter area.
Priday was also involved in the DevonAir radio station, which became Gemini FM before merging to become part of the Heart network.
Sixty-two-year-old Venables, meanwhile, has interests in logistics, landfill and environmental services businesses.
They include Saltash-based Brunel Recycling, Brunel Skip Hire and other waste management firms.
In a joint statement earlier today, Priday and Venables said: "We have become involved because we want the club with its long and proud history to thrive and Plymouth deserves to have a top flight professional rugby team.
"We have serious plans to develop an infrastructure and team that can play at the highest level and a club that is run on a sound, sustainable financial basis.
"We spoke to Graham Dawe after the game and congratulated him on how well the team went and for securing a very important win, which the team did with commitment and some very good spells of rugby,
"The win ensured that Plymouth Albion remain in National One for next season even after the 30-point sanction applied by the RFU.
"We intend on listening to opinions from all sources including the loyal support who have stuck with and helped the club through difficult times.
"The atmosphere was fantastic on Saturday and our promise to the people of Plymouth is that we will endeavour to develop a club which will bring benefit and pride to everyone in the city.
"We intend to run a club that will be ambitious but fun and one that clings strongly to its roots and traditions. We can be a big club playing at the highest level but doing it the Plymouth way. We are very excited about the prospects."
