| As for Cameron's response today (or the response that we are told is expected lol) he looks like he is going to offer to take Syrian refugees but he is still banging on about dealing with the causes of the refugee crisis. Like not having any more wars down there? I still think its more likely well embark on another war, more money, more misery and lots more martyrs. It cracks me up as well the amount of resources we are putting in to stopping people leaving Britain to travel to Syria, feck them if they want to join up let them, cancel their passport and have done with them, give that passport to someone displaced by their actions. |

Agree with that, a brilliant idea. |

Cameron has said the UK will take Syrian refugees from UN camps bordering Syria, not from those that are in Europe already or are heading to Europe.. |

Obvious though isn't it. Deal with the root causes. Exactly. Who could disagree? How? What on Earth is there to be done. The whole thing is a mess caused in part decades ago when us and the French drew some arbitrary lines on a map defining natiions that had never existed before while simultaneously denying the right of others to exist. Sprinkle in a bit of centuries old sectarian hatred (Shia v Sunni, Moslem v Jew) and a bit of casual racism left over from the Crusades, scatter a few religiously significant cities and temples, season with a bit of Holcaust and oil liberally with, er, oil and then stir well. But that's the deep historical stuff. There's the relatively recent atrocities committed by Saddam, Gaddafi and others and Russian fears of islamic extremism... And then the very recent political alliances which see USA currently allied loosely to Iran which supports Hezbollah which is opposed to Isreal which is allied to the USA. USA is allied to Turkey. Turkey is fighting the Kurds. The Kurds are fighting Daesh (and Turkey). Daesh is fighting everybody. USA is bombing Daesh in Iraq and Syria but Turkey seems strangely neutral towards Daesh. USA is supporting Saudi. Saudi is bombing Yemen. The people who the Saudis are bombing are supported by Iran. Iran is allied to USA. USA is allied to Qatar. Qatar is indulgent of Daesh (as is Bahrain another USA ally). USA seems to be alied to everybody except Syria which is allied to Russia. Russia hates all of the islamic extremism just as much as anybody else does having suffered plenty because of it itself - as they would see it. Daesh hates al Qaeda. Al Qaeda hates Daesh yet they ally against the USA. Iraq sits smack bang in the middle of all of geographically speaking. Egypt supported by the USA democratically elects an Islamic government which is overthrown by the US-supported Egyptian army... So we have dysfunctional countries once ruled by despots which have failed; Democracy has been attempted and has failed; we have more shades of religious extremism than can be imagined; the region is awash with arms and the money, desire and need to buy more arms. Who could possibly blame anybody for wanting to run away from it all? |

| Here is the BBC report regarding Cameron and Syrian refugees.
Meanwhile, daesh carry on as usual.
Also from the BBC, a report on the chances of talks with daesh. |

| The migrants in Hungary are on the March again. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]There are some harrowing photos here. I see the Hungarian right-wing have arrived on the scene, according to the news they charged in throwing fire crackers. The media is saying that the ever growing situations around Europe are worse than what was witnessed during WWII.. |

There certainly is war in Ukraine Indeed there is, but it has been placed on the back-burner for the time being, but continue the war does. Only last week (I believe) , there were clashes between the two opposing sides, each blaming the other for the start of it. |

The fact the stamp wasn't put in the east of the country, possibly wasn't a coincidence. |

| Depends who did the original cartography. I didn't realise Germany used dollars. I guess I learn something every day. No pink bits I see. Must be well modern In fact I don't think I've ever seen such a peaceful map in that neck of the woods. Somebody must be doing something right

Did you know that in the last 18 months, Russia and the West have come close to all out war on 66 occasions.
The mail reported the story, along with one or two others.
Like I said, we can argue the toss about the rights and wrongs of going to war in Iraq (unjustified) and Afghanistan (justified). . If you are going to start believing what you read in the Fail then you are in trouble. Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan were justified, the only justifiable target after 9/11 was Saudi Araia. |

Like I said earlier our government is "completely, demonstrably and undeniably on the wrong side of this one" but they're savvy enough to know it and they have been dragged towards a "compromise" despite every sinew in their psyche pulling against it. Then again that was always going to happen. To pretend it wasn't, in the first instance, was grandstanding to the likes of those on this thread who would seemingly not lift a finger to help prevent people drown - which, of course, until recently was the explicitly stated government policy on this matter.
Our government disgusts me but at least I can sleep at night knowing I didn't vote for the callous, inept, self-serving bastards. There speaks the man who voted for Blair who in no small part is responsible for all this shiite, now he wants to slag off poor old Cammy for trying to do something about it. You really couldn't make it up. The Tories, cleaning up Labour's mess. |

The Tories, cleaning up Labour's mess. What the whole mess? Are you sure he's not going to clean up a tiny, tiny piece of the mess, in due time, with all haste, targeting the places that matter? Bullshit, there will be Sam cam and dav cam shaking hands with grinning refugees and well do feck all in terms of numbers. 10 million refugees in the world at the moment. Cameron's only taking thousands, not cleaning up anybodies mess. Anyway he voted for war in Iraq along with the rest of the Tories if I remember rightly. |

| Iggy, Not sure where you've been these last ten years but everyone else seems to accept that Blair and his cronies lied as to the reason to go to war.
The Tory support was based on a lie.
Which makes your view absurd. |

| No when it was voted through parliament I thought the Tories went along with it and voted with Blair at the last minute. Blairs back benches were a bigger threat IMO. I could be getting it mixed with one of the other bullshit wars we've had I dunno. Don't think it's so absurd really. |

| Smoke and mirrors. They all knew the game was illegal regime change. I was up there demonstrating against it along with 20+ coaches from Bretonside alone. Nearly 2 million souls. The largest demonstration ever in these islands. The Met police on the BBC 6pm news estimated the day's turn out at 60K. Yeahhhhhh, OK.. The whole system is corrupt, labour, Tory, police, Westminster, head of state. And look at the monster they've created. Pre-emptive defence is the new sex act |
