| Why the fuss about schools, housing, roads, transport infra-structure? These things all need doing anyway. The impact of 20,000 Syrians will make no difference to them whatsoever.
And even if it did that wouldn't be a bad thing. Just think about, say, easy access to transport for disabled people. It costs something, sure, and they benefit from it, of course, but they are not the only ones who do. If a doorway is made accessible to a wheelchair it is also accessible to a parent pushing a buggy, if a safety sign is made more visible to assist those with visual impairment it is also more visible to everybody else. It won't only be refugees who benefit from the building of new schools, hospitals, houses but all of us indirectly. We aren't only helping them.
Our road and rail network is undeniably poor for much of the country. There's a whole host of reasons for this but at the heart of it all is decades of cost-cutting and under-investment and it isn't just about the numbers travelling but why they have to travel in the first place. Perhaps we should be asking why so many people have to travel so far so often? If an MP needs to stay within a few miles of the HoC why doesn't everybody else need to live within a few miles of their workplace? |

| 20,000! Wasn't it 330,000 minimum last year? For how long can we absorb so many every year without our vital services buckling under the strain? Have you been on a tube lately, standing room only most of the time, similar story on peak time trains or those heading to major stations, pay a fortune for a ticket and stand up most of the way. Have you tried to get a place at an NHS dentist lately, similar odds to winning the lottery. Yes, steady investment will always be required to keep things running smoothly but at the current yearly rate of immigration which looks likely to continue to rise steady investment won't cut the mustard and our major cities, the favored destination of 99.9% of all immigrants are becoming uncomfortably full and will require large scale expansion. Still, like with most things in life it only seems to bother those affected. |

| I reckon it will be in the region of 70 million. And hence well below the rise to 10 billion worldwide. People will have to bid in an auction to have a child. More than one child will be rationed to those who are considered staunch, rather than devout. Immigration flow will then reverse, as young couples flee the persecution. |

I think 70 million is a tad on the low side, i reckon around 85 million mind you i'm using the NOOL counting method! anyway i dont know why i'm bothered i'll be nearly fookin ninty by then if i make it! |

| Not much of a choice is it. Ivy bridge, Dignitas or a Derriford dustbin.
I was thinking of joining the immortals. Jumbo Jack, Zeus and me, a great midfield. |

There wont be enough building sites for all the mosques required..... plus the fear of the Islamicization of Europe .... and that is before the millions from Turkey join thr EU as well......we need to get out of Europe before it's too late. |

| It's not a case of offering bedrooms in homes. I put up miners for holidays during their strike, but this is different. This is a very rich country. I've had enough of charidee and bucket rattling. There is ample wealth here for the government to fork out and do the bit in accordance with the omnipresent rhetoric this country issues forth. Time to live up to it, or not. There are plenty of contingency funds for going to war. Again. This humanitarian crisis and migration is not the same subject as ongoing structural labour market stuff that the system has created.. |

| News for you sir J... You do not live in a 'rich' country at all. You live in a country that's broke. |

Made me laugh that did. Top trolling there, Ricksy baby! Unless of course you're being serious in which case there's absolutely no reasoning with you. But that's too stupid an option to consider. |

| Bull, Ricks. There's huge wealth here. It's just the distribution that's the problem. Per capita, we have far more than we ever have. And of course, for the right reason, like the bank gamblers, we can print money til the tenants squeak. This isn't a money matter. It's small potatoes compared to HS2, or giving the Chinese a right old bunce to build nuclear power stations. This is the ongoing and dangerous fall into war. Countries either make the right or wrong moves.
Ps..... We're all broke, and no more than the USA, with it's Plutoesque national debt. But because they're Rome and control the markets, it doesn't matter. I'm not stupid, Ricks. I know the magic of a President's head on a piece of paper. |

| This is a genuine question as I haven't read up on it...........if we're such a rich country why do we need Chinese investment to build a nuclear power station? |

| Why do we need any private/outside capital investment, from France or from Saturn in such hugely important matters of security, for any public utility ? And yet Corbyn, the latest devil, is the threat to security...... you couldn't make it up.
Let's be frank here Les. It's a bit like shagging. Westminster PLc want to bed China, maybe have a kid, who knows. It's sexual, it's political. It's power. It's in the eye, Westy just can't resist. So, he has to go a courtin'. A bit like the infanta thing with Spain a long time ago. Blackadder describes it very well. Nothing changes deep down. Lighten up, and go for a bike ride. Cover yourself in lycra, praise the lord. Frank Lord if need be. The Syrians have nothing to offer because apparently they're "council house" to many people. Best not court them. |

| One more thing on the definition of money A dear friend of mine built a yaught in Millbrook over a few years, and then sailed it down to the Zambesi River and died up some creek or other of malaria. He gave me the best definition of money I ever heard.......
'There's two sorts of money. Beer money, and other money'.
All a matter of perspective. Life is about desire, not balance sheets

| Thanks, that's that cleared up. . Entrusting/schmoozing other Countries to run, invest, profit or have the ability to hold us to ransom if and when it suits has to to be one of the most ridiculously embarrassing policies any government could ever dream up, short-termism in the extreme, bizarre. |

| As I said, Les. It's shagging. Logic goes out the window. Looking at Osborne, I would suggest he's not used to someone giving him the eye. It's excruciating to watch. |
