Missed the point again Les? Most of those costs listed would be tax deductable as is the VAT, then the owner of said factory doesn't pay any income tax or tax on profits... I give up, we will never get a fairer tax system whilst people justify the system we have in place. The massive shift in wealth to the top cannot be denied, just ignored. Not totally specific to this, but a friend sent me this a little while back. An interesting talk about how those on the higher end of the food chain shift their moral compass to justify their position and privilege. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| There was a programme on Channel 4 last night and looked at the 1964 General Election in Smethwick. It was called Britain's Racist Election. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]There was one local chap who was interviewed and he went on to say that he never called anyone of colour blackie, to him and the other locals of the time, the word w..s was the term they used . At the end of the programme, audio clips of politicians from today were heard, the theme - immigration

Missed the point again Iggy? Those costs listed might well be tax deductable to the factory owner but they are still helping to keep other businesses in the supply chain alive, it's how a thriving economy works
You seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder(of sack of spuds like proportions) about anyone who bothers to get up off their arse and invest money and effort into setting up a business that has no guarantee of success, then reaping their just rewards if they're successful. I'm sure in some cases more taxes could be paid but not always, there is a fine line between shit or bust. Would you prefer the nasty factory owner never bothered and left any potential workforce wallowing around in the jobcentre Wrong again I got off my arse and on the whole was mainly self employed and set up a ran a couple of businesses, I paid tax but I did all right, I don't remember moaning about the tax I paid I agree with it in principle, I don't agree with the really wealthy paying no or little no tax. I would also add its you that has a chip on your shoulder with me and if you can't pick a decent argument then just go feck yourself and don't waste my time with your personal and I'll informed snipes. I've my my view based on over fifty years of life, like it or lump but for fecks sake stop trying to pigeonhole and judge me you utter cnut. |

You're not shy when it comes to handing out insults to fellow posters(I'm struggling to think of someone who does it more than you) and whenever someone disagrees with you you fly off the handle like a spoilt brat, man up FFS! |

| Feck off you follow me around having a pop here and there and I react, isn't that what you want? On Saturday when I said in mundane that I'd had a good day watching telly, drinking beer and eating a pie my missus made you quip with "were all in it together" wtf was that meant to mean and what did it have to do with what I'd posted? If you want to argue politics with me fine, do so, if you want to say I've got a chip on my shoulder I will tell you to feck off. All this is similar to when under your previous moniker you did the same to another mod which ended with you calling his missus a two bit whore so your not so lily white yourself. You don't know me, I don't want to know you, leave it at that. I couldn't give a flying one whether you approve of or understand my political leanings so as I've said have a conversation or do what I try and do with you which is ignore you. |

Indeed. That hurtful insult is stored for life in my grudge bank. Every few years I check my grudge bank balance. Look the fuuck out when I close my account. Best I leave it at that. |

I was thinking about them, and others, the other day in the context of the leaders' debates. If all of the party leaders were to be given equal time then I'd spend a good proportion of the hour, or whatever, listening to SNP, Plaid, DUP and the other Ulster parties. Probably for amounting to about half of the programme I'd be forced to listen to parties I have no possibility at all of voting for. If the debates go ahead then the leaders of Con, LD, Lab, UKIP and the Greens should take part because, as far as I am aware, they all have candidates standing all over the country. The place for SNP & co is in their own "countries" in regional debates televised to the people who might want, or who are at least able, to vote for them. |

You're the one doing the misunderstanding, I never accused YOU personally of not getting off your arse but you're so desperately looking for offence in everything I post that that's how you interpreted it. I'd be surprised if any right minded, unbiased member(somebody like Czarcasm, Asti our any of the other free thinkers on ATD) were to read back through yesterdays posts on this thread that they'd come to the conclusion that I was attacking you. You also accuse me of following you around and having a pop, what a load of crap, yes on Saturday I threw a bit of lighthearted banter your way on the mundane thread and again you're attempting to twist it into some sort of attack, absolutely not the case. Look back at yesterdays posts on this thread and tell me who quoted the other's post first and weighed in with a snide reply, I'll give you a clue, it wasn't me. To bring up the past and something that happened 18 months or so ago between myself and Person Of No Interest or Dorkwood Twat or whatever he's calling himself now is scraping the barrel even by your standards, take care what you accuse me of saying back then too unless you have written proof. I remember the way you flew into the fray in defence of your then mod(HTF did that happen?) mate in an attempt to intimidate and engineer a ban(my username at the time was Jack Sheppard), fortunately a keyholder was wise to your shenanigans and reassured me that that wouldn't happen. After not posting for a week or two and still feeling slightly aggrieved by what had happened I self deleted. I continued to read the forum but found the frustration with not being able to read the links so annoying that after a while I decided to rejoin as Les Miserable A fresh start I thought but Starsky and Hutch obviously put 2+2 together from my IP address and realised who I was, the snide remarks have been bubbling under the surface ever since. Apologies for boring my fellow ATD'ers with all the details but it felt necessary on my part. To Iggy I say this, If you post something I disagree with I retain the right to say so, as do you to me, that's the beauty of a democratic forum and as long as no site rules are broken, well tough titty. To Dorkwood I say this, as the great John Sitton once said..........You can team up if you like, and if you want you can bring ya fackin dinner cause by the time I've finished with you you'll fackin need it. |

Not sure the Greens can claim this, as there's the Scotch Greens too.. But yeah, maybe. Although I'm thinking that I know all about the policies of Labour/Tory/Kip/Dems anyway. If the SNP and Plaid etc have anything interesting to say about the national elections then it might actually be worth hearing. Maybe? |

| Not if you can't vote for them. What's the point?
If you were that interested then I'm sure the net would stream the "local" debates somewhere, or they'd be red buttoned by the BBC, so you could tune in to hear what they have to say there. |

| When Cameron is gloating about the numbers of unemployed being down due to jobs created by his governement's running of the country why is he never question on this and asked how many of those jobs are either Temporary contracts or worse Zero hour contracts.... If they where to take in the number of workers who are yo yo-ing between these and spells of being unemployed when the jobs end its not as fantastic as he makes out. |

| Having kids of uni age it's staggering the amount of them that finish a degree then go and volunteer for a couple of years to gain the experience needed for a paid job. I thought that what uni was for? I bet they aren't on the figures. I know of a couple of people that volunteer for the national trust, they then get their rent and council tax paid and I should imagine a bit of dole. Bet they aren't in the figures either. |
