TBH the passing of the Bretonside scheme in current form with plan to take Exeter St to one lane before Charles Cross is pretty shocking, but at least they were honest and published details of imbecilic road scheme with application.

If the new Council aren't swayed on introducing charges to P&R on Outland Rd to entice NCP back and don't think coughing up £8M for Ice Rink and Dental Practice is a good investment then Gilberts Lane will remain a haven for lizards of all sorts.

Find that change idiotic as well. Money talks. I think the council have had their arms twisted.

If it is just the area above the current Bretonside viaduct that is going down to one lane, then that shouldn't have a major impact. The bulk of any thru traffic goes around CC roundabout and up towards the Uni. If it were going down to one lane from Sutton Rd up to Charles Cross that would be a problem.

Yes it will have a major impact, it's currently 3 lanes, 1 being a bus lane, if that stretch is reduced to just 1 lane it'll be absolute mayhem which will lead to tailbacks all the way down Royal Parade to Derry's Cross and beyond, not that the council give a monkeys.

It the traffic light crossing at primark end will be the main trouble spot, with all Exeter, Plympton, Plymstock coming from the east, verging on to the roundabout then hitting the lights. Plus the traffic coming down Drake Circus around the roundabout to go to Drake Circus carpark or into Royal Parade. How many buses uses that roundabout?

Brainless by the Labour Councilors

Knock the church down that might help. It serves no purpose other than a roundabout and suicide haunt these days and the council can always put a plague somewhere to commerate the church if there has to be a memorial for it.

So is the eastbound carriageway reducing to one lane as well? I thought it would be on the westbound side adjacent to the new development? scratch

You are right it is on the west bound going in to the city centre. One lane for all traffic and a bus taxi bay

Yeah. It's going to increase traffic generally but with the time of day people are going to be going for a meal and the cinema, that won't impact morning traffic at all. Just perhaps 4-6pm-ish. Even then the bulk of the traffic is traveling east towards Cattedown roundabout, not coming in to the city.

It the traffic lights coming off the roundabout will impact on the traffic flow all day, one person pressing the cross button will hold up all the traffic.
