Every now and then there is something worth discussing and you get an excellent thread with some really good contributions. Some of the incision and intelligence is actually stand out. Some of.

In between, you get pissyness, drivel and more pissyness.

I may be wrong but I think that was in response to Rickler's "feck off and die" (aka "FOAD"). Rickler has defended that by saying that if anyone took that literally they must be nuts. I agree with Rickler. But the same is true of hairy's "I hope Rickler Dies". I think, and I may be wrong, that hairy is, yet again, pointing out inconsistencies.

I agree with you about lots of us never learning. I don't agree with you about his "reactionary shite". Maybe he is the only one challenging the status quo? And isn't that what got most of us into trouble on pasoti?

That would be a pity, Iggy. I think the current mods are a fine team and doing a damn good job. I repeat, I am absolutely in agreement with the attempts to remove the personalised bitch-fests.

Sometimes I think the big tough persona that the collective ATD prides itself on is actually a sham. So often if someone gets criticised they do a flounce or simply get abusive. You really don't need to. I'd vote for you all to stay in post. But that shouldn't mean you're above challenge - isn't that aprt of the job?

Hairy is a self admitted troll. He trolled on the farm for too long and got banned.

He doesn't appear to have any strongly held views concerning the club, pasoti and the characters who are often the subject of our ire on here. He just enjoys trying to wind people up for the fun of it.

The mods and Keyholders have all the powers they require within the constitution and should act accordingly, as Frank is doing, to deal with the resident agent provocateur.

TBF knecht, you've been seamlessly consistent in your role as ATD's hairy-apologist.

But this thread is a prime example of how hairy operates a lot of the time. Look at the posts from the beginning. There's no outrageous viciousness. It is a light-hearted dig at Webbs Greenman moniker. Yet hairy would have you believe he is outraged to the max. Someone with his posting history is outraged at the content of this thread?

Hairy is only happy when he's centre-stage in a row. I used to find his posts quite amusing most of the time. Others slated him but I found him quite funny. I do believe I 'got' him. Thing is, he isn't funny any more. He just comes across as a rather bitter argumentative twat.

Hairy's not challenging the status quo, he's playing his little games. It's a classic case of lighting the blue touch paper. He knows what he's doing, he's a reactionary troll who's played the game one too many times. His history on here goes before him and he's probably reading this laughing his socks off at the reaction he's got and people trying to defend him. He's played a blinder.

He'll go quiet now or behave for a few weeks and he'll be off again - and so it goes, on and on. I don't have views on the club - I actually go and offer my opinions on what I've seen - in the flesh.

It wouldn't be an instant fix, but over the course of time maybe you could archive the most contentious shitstormy threads. As the threads slowly stack up, the Mods could see if the same person (or persons) is instrumental in the inception or escalation of a thread to 'shitstorm' levels.

When the same name keeps cropping up, present them with the evidence and politely show them the ATD door?

Rather than that, why don't you just ignore whoever it is anyway, then nobody needs to be shown the door unless there is illegal content?

Just lock the thread.....and if it restarts under another heading start banning those that carry on the theme of the original.......just to say anything goes....is.... in the end self defeating.....just to prove that your not pasoti....isn't the answer....is it.

That's fine for you or me Gobbers, but the Mods can't simply ignore posts. I presumed Frank was asking for suggestions on what to do (from a moderating point of view) when it happens again.

Any suggestions for the mods or the warring factions are welcome. We need to do something to stop this endless cycle of crap because I think we have all had enough now.

I really have got used to just ignoring it, I suggest others do the same.
