| Yesterday the headlines in the Daily Express shouted out that a Survey had decided that exercise was good for you and helped you live longer.....how much did that mind blowing survey cost to discover that fact.....are we getting more intelligent or more stupid as time goes by. |

| Those channel 4 progs the truth about, fat, calories ect is quite interesting with a lot of science to back it up. They reckon that most obese people consume the same amount of calories as you need in a day just in fizzy pop alone then eat bargain buckets, pizza and burgers. It cracks me up when massive people tell you they don't eat a lot, are they photosynthesising or something? |

| Amazing oil find in UK. There's talk of being self sufficient in oil in a few years. What ramifications will this have for the UK economy? The North Sea oil fields/Scotland scenario? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Mmmmm, I'm guessing that the oil will be shared out between some already very wealthy people and we see feck all of it, just a guess mind. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Gotta get it out of the ground first. Finding it's the easy bit. I guess finding the black stuff is always great unless it's in your town. It's unfortunate that it's been discovered in the NIMBY heaven that is the Home Counties. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] As usual there is the media confusion/frenzy over "Oil In Place" versus "Recoverable Reserves" (not to mention lots of other "bending of industry figures") in the original (and full) press release: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The reality of this (which will become apparent eventually) is that a quite small oil field has been discovered near Gatwick in reservoirs which immediately overlie a mature Kimmeridge Clay source rock. The Kimmeridge Clay is a widespread oil source rock covering much of NW Europe which charges the vast majority of North Sea oil reservoirs. Source rocks - by definition - always have lots of "Oil In Place". The trick is getting the conditions just right to (a) convert the original organic matter present in the rock into oil i.e. to make it into a source rock in the first place (b) expel it from the source rock and (c) collect and trap the migrating oil in a reservoir which - when discovered - will eventually be drilled and tapped. The vast majority of oil generated from source rocks just "escapes" and is never trapped in a suitable reservoir. If the same mathematics used at Gatwick were applied to the North Sea, then the UK could be said to have reserves in the trillions of barrels. We don't. Still, share prices of companies involved up 200% so... job done! However, this should not obscure the fact that the Kimmeridge Clay - in some areas - would be a suitable candidate for the "F" word... |

| The BBC give Labour a one point lead in their poll today.
Lab 34% +1 Con 33% +0 UKIP 14% +0 Lib Dem 9% +0 Other 6% +0 Green 5% +0
Poll reflects General Election voting intention for the whole of the UK
God, i am bored with it all now.. |

| I see there is a TU/socialist party forming, they could finish Labour forever (aided and abetted by SNP) and will give another outlet for the disillusioned kippers. Is this the future for politics in Britain to become very fragmented with the coalitions the norm? |

Imho, the Herald is on a par with the Sun, i.e sensationalist, piss-poor, 12 year old jouno's, full of non-events that 9/10 times is factually incorrect, nothing to do with Plymouth, or jumping on a national headlines and somehow try to link it to Plymouth. A piss-poor local rag at best. Please shut it down with immediate effect and replace it with the Mevagissey Gazette. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Why can't these two POS not be kicked out of our country ? They clearly have nothing but problems to offer us. I was going to say I hope the Marines get their own back & kick the crap out of these two in a dark alley but of course if caught they wouldn't walk free from court as that would be a waycist crime. |
