| I spoke to a primary school teacher friend this evening. She said that she came across a little girl in the infants who was stood holding a 50p coin.
"Why are you holding that money, Poppy? It's not a good idea for you to be carrying it around."
"Johnny gave it to me, Miss."
"Johnny, why did you give Poppy 50p?"
"Miss, my mum gave it to me and said it was for a red poppy and she has a red dress on so it must be for her, Miss" |

| Congratulations Pete.
On a more selfish note. I love marmite, but not butter or spread. is there a practical way to spread a stodgy yeast based product onto toast? |

| May I also add many congratulations to Mr & Mrs Pepsi. Quite an achievement in these days of sex drugs and rock N roll.
PS: Did anyone see that Elvis program last night on ITV? Most enjoyable. I never knew 'Hound Dog' by Elve the pelve wasn't originally by him. |

| So how was LKJ? ("we" decided that we didn't want to go to Plymouth). Did he have a backing track or music or was it just the great man himself? |

| I went to get some vests at Tesco earlier and I bought beer instead - and a pink notebook, a magazine for a 6 year old called "Cute", apple sauce, paxo and some corn-on-the-cob skewers.... no vests though. |

| Massive congratulations to Pete and Mrs Pepsi - you two have a lovely day doing exactly what you want to do - Iggy wrote:

LKJ was bleddy marvellous! No backing track or anything, just the great man himself, reading his poems, reminiscing about his life and giving the youngsters a bit of a history lesson. When he said he'd gone over his time, I was stunned - it just flew by. I could listen to him forever. And when I went to get my book signed I was too shy to say anything but thank you. Star struck, innit PS Next time I spot something like this, I won't just mention it on Facebook, Iggy - I'm really sorry you missed it. |

| Never mind, glad you had a good evening, I saw him in Bristol years ago, more of a gig with a small band but he doesn't need much he has such a presence or aura about him, another time. |

You may not have got them, but the fact you actively go shopping with the best of intentions for your dad, is quite admirable. |

Anyway, despite the attempts to wind me up (reminiscent of and some of his REAL mates, as I recall), I'm not biting. Off out in a bit, innit. I was going to say that boys would be doing far more important things with their robots like killing people and destroying things but I better not.... |

| I once chatted to an old boy in the village - I guess at least in his 80's. His advice for a long and happy marriage was to decide early on in the marriage what it was about your partner that you didn't like. And then shut up about it.

ive been using the old "i'll be in the garden" line! 16 years and counting... My favourite always used to be "I'm just popping up B&Q", whenever the kids started screaming. Cost me a fortune over the years but saved my sanity. |

| Sheds are the answer, I believe.
Waiting and hoping to hear from an old workmate and good friend who lives in the Philippines. For some reason I keep remembering the day he was giving me a lift to a meeting and if we hadn't been stuck in traffic he'd have crashed the car he was laughing so much: somebody (a comedian) was ranting on about something on the radio and reached a crescendo with 'AND ... why is abbreviation such a long word?' |

| My old school in Mamhead. It's been totally refurbished since the mid 80's when I went there but it was quite a place even back then with stunning views over the Exe estuary. My dormitory walls were plastered with Argyle programs, scarves and flags, and I used to get a bus to Plymouth on Saturday mornings and then back again to either Exeter or Newton Abbot where a member of staff would have to come and collect me by car. A couple of times I was in trouble for one thing or another and they would ban me from going so I used to skip out and hitch a lift to either town and go anyway and face the consequences when I got back. They would always threaten to stop me ever going again and I used to threaten to smash up the library or set fire to the Oak Room if they did [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |
