News flash. Couldn't think what to have for pudding, since all the xmas stuff's gone and I deliberately didn't buy any sweeties the other day. But lo! the day is saved! for the cupboard hath produceth ... one tin of rhubarb and one tin of custard.
Bit delicate from last night but had a great night.
A 27 yr old holidaymaker was swept out to sea and is presumed dead at 1 am after thinking it would be a good idea to have a paddle in the middle of a storm after drinking all night. It happened just about half a mile from my sister's where we've been staying.
The waves are massive at high tide and all the access to the harbour has been shut off to cars and pedestrians because the waves are crashing over the harbour walls.
Brilliant watching them from inside the car but you would have to have been well bladdered to even consider going in the water.

Can't believe all the numpties on the news standing on seafronts watching the massive waves come in - Darwin's theory is sadly. maybe right
I saw that......especially the one standing taking a picture of the waves about to drench him.....what sought of picture does he expect to get....other than a soggy digital camera that might be ruined.......some of them standing there before 6am.....yes numpties just about sums them up.

I was brought up doing such things on Penzance promenade. It's what kids, and adults, do. It's in the blood. It can be unbelievably exciting, especially after dark. Some kids play chicken with cars, traffic or drugs. Some with waves. Our elder brother nearly died during one monster storm. He forgot to count and got out of a damaged boathouse 2 seconds before the big one hit, and the whole thing disappeared into the sea. Half of Wherrytown disappeared that night.
I also know that harbour wall at Mullion where that parents and child were on the news. They took a silly risk there. Might have been tourists. A very dangerous wall, you have no warning there. I've got a video of one of my brothers in his Argyle hat, doing something similar there last year, but with a less powerful sea, and me standing watch. I'll see if I can dig it out. Mullion is super dangerous with the swell, not so much with the rocks thrown up.
