Well thanks for clearing that up. I must have asked Andy Symons at least half a dozen times, but he doesn't do the 'curtesy of replies'.
But there was 'contact' made though, wasn't there? And things were said....
Still water under the bridge now..
As for this latest snapshot... It doesn't reflect badly on you. Well if you want to know if I've done something, why not ask me?
And no, 'contact' was not made. And no, things weren't said. The only time I've ever spoken to or had any contact with James Brent was at the Q&A.
Back on topic, I don't care if the information you've got reflects badly on me or not. As I said, this is my business and the least anybody could do before posting about it is to talk to me. I quite agree . |

Because the last time I tried to talk to you, you made it very clear you didn't want to talk to me. And I wasn't talking about Brent. You know who I was talking about, (someone well known at PAFC) and you did discuss my personal business with him without me knowing, as I talked with him about that very fact. So as I said before... Heed your own advice before lecturing others! |

Bullies only bully those they know will not bite back. I have no idea how that applies to what I commented . I merely pointed out I agree Peggy should be consulted before peoplw think they are acting on her behalf . Mind you - you think you talk for everybody . |

- This is at risk of turning into the "who's got the biggest willy" game. Messrs Webb & Newell are Argyle fans - undeniably (my brother says he thinks he can remember Mr Newell in his hooligan days a long time ago).
How does someone demonstrate they are a fan? If, like GregCampbell, you can provide written evidence I suppose that will do. But most of us (me) can hardly remember last season let alone when started going over 50 years ago. Do you have to provide your season tickets from years gone by? Do you have to open your wardrobe of replica shirts? Do you have to cut yourself and bleed green?
Who's the biggest fan? It's all a bit .... pasoti!
You're quite right Knecht, this is all a bit pasoti, but the actions of the two (three if you include Brent) is a bit stomach churningly distasteful to say the least.
What I do know is that Newell has been a passionate fan for a great many years and I would defend him on that, but I think his obsessive demand for personal recognition has taken him to levels that most people wouldn't sink to even for money, let alone social status or even a combination of the two. He may have made his dream come true and gained a position in his beloved directors box but at what cost, not only to him but also to others? - I find that quite sad.
As for Webb being a fan...as you say Knecht, what's the definition of being a fan? - I don't attend every match that we play and I haven't for many a year for various reasons, but neither do I attempt to paint a picture of being a Superfan that I believe Webb is guilty of to justify his status. Personally I think it makes no difference if he's a fan or not but it tells me something about his character if he wishes to portray that massage when it's not strictly true as per the perception that he is providing and, it's a trait that encourages distrust and questions motives.
Really, the only question to ask is are these two characters healthy for the club?
I would never question Newell's passion for PAFC because I know he oozes it, his downfall is his "at any cost" attitude and as has already been mentioned, even if it means relinquishing over 100 years of history in Football League. His bitterness towards others is also a big issue that I believe he would prioritise before the health of the club.
I think Webb saw an opportunity for some headline grabbing and he took it and it conveniently fitted in with a slight interest that he had with following PAFC, nothing more. Brent then offered him a few sweets of publicity and a public status that proved to much for Webb to turn down and Bob's your uncle, Brent gained a handy tool that would clear the decks for him and a nice development earner.
But the most interesting game play has still to be played out and when Brent decides that the pair are an embarrassing side issue and they are no longer needed, that's when the sparks will start to fly again, only Brent will be sipping G&Ts in the Caribbean somewhere and won't give a toss about Newell, Webb or PAFC.
Top post, GOB, that seems like a fair assesment of N & W from what I've seen of them, albeit from a long distance. Mind you, I'm sure there's a joke to be made about Brent gaining a handy tool. Seriously though, very incisive stuff. |

| Good, a verbal scrap is good for viewing figures I'm with Tring when he says that bullies can only bully if you allow them, but I also respect Peggy's view of not discussing her circumstances without her involvement. The only conclusion is that the same couple of people have made a lot more enemies with their recent actions. |

| I work with a few uphill gardeners - apparently The Swallow has closed down. The old Breton Arms (think it's changed its name?) is now the pub of choice for them. Another gloriously off-topic ATD thread... |

I heard it was being called the 'Tidy Bush', although I may well have that confused with something else. |
