Ridiculous isn't it.

As someone has already highlighted, our one and only chance to do it proper once and for all has been blew in favour of the makeover of a 60 year old structure that only runs the length of 2 thirds of the pitch and a roof that only covers roughly over half the seats.

The legacy wont just live on, it will live for the next 40-50 years now.

On the head. We'll never get another chance. Well, not in my lifetime!

The end is nigh (for me)

Once it is done it is done for decades.

Just think how archaic, how anachronistic a football ground with pillars is now... Now wind on 20 years.

And we still won't have paid for it.

The pillars must go. Everything else is negotiable but seats with an obstructed view belong to the 1930s not the 2030s.

From the seats in one of the top corners you can't even see one of the goals. You really couldn't make this shit up.

Not just those seats. There's loads of them.

I keep saying this but the message doesn't seem to get through...

Recently I went corporate, as a friend of a sponsor, and was allocated a grandstand seat. As you say the view of the Devonport End goal was completely obscured as was the entire middle of the penalty area. If there was a penalty slammed down the middle I would not have been able to see either the bloke kick the ball or the ball hit the net.

It really is that bad.

And this is what the club hopes people will pay top dollar for?

But it wasn't just my seat. Nobody bothered to sit in any nearby. All of them suffered the same impediment to the eyeline to a greater or lesser extent.

And we have the opportunity to eradicate this and choose not to? Madness.

And that's before we consider the vast number of seats with a view impeded far less but impeded all the same.

If I'm paying upwards of £20 (£50 if corporate) for a premium seat then I bloody well expect to be able to see a game without an architectural structure getting in the way.

The plans show that there will be nine columns left within the corporate function room unless there are revised version. How does that work for presentations and wedding top tables?

Really hope the club have got there sums right over additional revenue to cover the repayment schedule.

With the club and the lender being largely one and the same person, that certainly is a concern.

Still, at least we don't have to pay the peppercorn rent we were used to. One has to wonder who has actually gained from buying the stadium with so much building work required, as the club could have had their "conference income" under a long lease. It was certainly snapped up quick at the first opportunity. Must be something there of interest to somebody LOL.

Personally, I have always believed brent's profit projections for the club from a new build have been hopelessly overestimated, just as he overestimated the invester interest in his various plans for the rest of HHP..

Sadly, there are still enough easily pleased janner wannabe types, who will pay top dollar for low grade facilities and football, a hot fork buffet and a photoshoot with Bickle, Davey, Tynan etc. Cringe What a Face

No real money or a top flight developed fanbase = lower league.

Meanwhile, little old Wycombe have this south stand. Length of the pitch and complete with built in executive boxes and several function, conference facilities. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Was strange yesterday looking out of the train window as it pulled into Plymouth station and not seeing a big green

Not pillar obstructions Frank. I'm referring to the seats in the upper mayflower back right, pictured below. From my reckoning there are about 80 with no view of the corner flag and 10 or so with no view of the barn park end goal lol  raised eyebrow

Couldn't someone who was say a board member of the Argyle Fans Trust not raise some of these concerns with the board?

You think this hasn't happened?

You think Simon Hallett hasn't been advised that a walk around the grandstand so that he could see how bad the obstructions were might be in order? Or that he might like to check with the box office and find out exactly how many seats had an impeded view hasn't been suggested?

You really, really think that?

He said he wasn't across the detail of the project on that level, was only really involved with the financing and had delegated design detail along the line.

Right now we are in the middle of the election process and the next move will be determined by the new board when the successful candidates are known.

It would be very awkward for me to suggest that anything will or will not happen because I may not be on the board to make the case either for or against and then it would need to be collectively settled anyway.

You, on the other hand, as a non-board member at present are far more free to make suggestions as to what the next step may be. What would you do?

So defer and pass the buck then..?

Not surprised.

After a recent fan meeting you attended where you asked a question, you personally had an invite from Brent to meet him at Home Park for coffee with the opportunity to ask him whatever you wanted.

How'd that go?

Definitely league 2 next season but at least they'll have a nice new stand (Albeit, bargain basement) for the dwindling number of supporters.
