| Belgium clearly weren't bothered about the prospect of Brasil or whoever. Glad I didn't go.
Losers' mentality from Southgate. These are highly honed professionals, nay athletes, the best the country has to offer, not Adams' rag bag bunch of crocks and rejects. Are people saying they can't handle a few games in a month ? I agree with AKA, keep the momentum going, build belief. Much is in the head at this level of competition. Quite extraordinary the sort of logic employed by some to explain away a bad defeat. Almost Aviva like. |

| If England beat Columbia Southgate's team selection was spot on for this match if we lose he knows what to expect, i think he's doing a good job though to be fair. |

Unless of course that "best" team had lost to Belgium 'reserves', what do you think that would have done for the "spirit"? Both teams were as good or as bad as each other, and one good strike was the difference. It was a work out for players that might be needed later and it avoided injuries to vital players. It was the obvious thing to do. Anybody who is complaining about missing out on a bracket that contains, Uruguay, Portugal, France, Argentina, and Brazil - rather than face Spain as the biggest obstacle, is nuts. |

| If England beat Columbia, then last nights game will be forgotten, clearly Southgate and Martinez were always going to match each other either play a second team or their best team and deal with the consequences. The Belgians have less to worry about, because their squad looks superior to Englands. Beat Columbia 50/50 I would say, then Southgate will again be the man of the moment. Bad day for the world cup yesterday what with the tactical damp squib last night and the disgraceful antics of the last fifteen minutes of the Poland v Japan game. Great hosting by Russia but average footballing fare so far. |

| Thanks.
France vs the Argies... Great. One of the big teams is going to go out, and I don't really care which one. Let's just hope it's epic.

| Standard practice in these situations for the man in overall charge of selection and tactics to resign, therefore Messi should go immediately. |

According to online reports he might just be doing that. We are seeing the demise of a once great footballing nation and the decline could last awhile apparently, as they do not have the talent coming through to replace any players that do call it a day. This was mentioned by a football correspondent on the BBC not too long ago. It has been a thrilling World Cup so far, with plenty more to come no doubt. |

| Made the effort to watch a full match last night and must say it was very enjoyable. Uruguay look to be a very decent team, solid in defence and with enough flair in Suarez and Cavani to be a threat to anyone. Impressive. |

| It'll be an even bigger shock if Ireland win it. Uruguay look to have the ability to beat anyone. A proper team effort too, great work off the ball. So good to see them ditch the crass physical stuff of a dark past. |
