| Surprised that this hasn't been mentioned anywhere as far as I can see but extracts from an interview with James Brent in todays WMN;
"We have increased it [the budget for 2018/19] quite materially and appropriately so. Derek still won't have the highest budget in the league but it will I think move us up the category. Part of that I hasten to add is because league 1 players are paid more than league 2 players and we clearly had a number of players that moved up the leagues with us, so there is a natural progression in costs as you move up. It's not all on new players. In the second half on the season we had an automatic promotion squad and we must not lose sight of that. Now clearly there are areas that we can strengthen and we all know Derek will strengthen. What really became apparent at the end of the season was that we ran out of a strong squad of players so there is a depth question i'm sure he will be looking at as well."
Also some bits and pieces about how players have been developed under DA to become potential championship players and how the investment in infrastructure which will eventually lead to one of the biggest budgets in league 1,a hypothesis which will doubtless be regarded with cynicism in some quarters. Some of the interview seems rather contrary-plainly Argyle did not have an automatic promotion squad in the second half of the season and the reference to the exponential increase in costs is puzzling-surely that should have been a major factor in this seasons budget? Proof of the pudding re the increase will be in the eating I suppose. |

| Every bodies concerns laid to rest, we can all relax hail Sir James. Mind you you can't really argue that Sonny and Threlkeld going is strengthening the squad. As Skinny says time will tell. |

| It's just more words.
Nobody expects us to have the highest budget in the division. Nobody. We all know that Sunderland have parachute payments. We all know their budget will be off the scale and we can't get near to it even if we threw every last penny we had at it. Why even bother to say it?
The rest is a typically vague promise of the possibility that gravy might arrive tomorrow.
He acknowledges that that the squad was too small last season and so presumably it will be increased in size. He acknowledges that wages are higher in a higher division. As a consequence the budget will need to increase. Well no shit, Sherlock!
Even after all this time he still really really really does not even get close to getting it. |

| Damage limitation exercise. What a slippery customer. "It's not my fault, my hands were tied"
It would appear our Jim isn't capable of a plan B. Once a budget is set at the start of the season, it can't be changed, it would seem. No wonder so many of his businesses have failed. |

Proof of the pudding re the increase will be in the eating I suppose. Who was it that sanctioned the sale of Jervis a day or so before the transfer window closed and allowed Diagouraga to slip through his fingers? As others have said its more of the same deliberately vague corporate waffle that The Saviour excels at, which will doubtlessly be presented without critiscism by assorted PASOTI munchkins as proof of how great everything is. |

| I wouldnt hold out to much hope of a quality budget considering the club are selling programmes for £3 on their ebay site. Not from the 1970's or anything interesting but from last season amongst others [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| We've heard all this crap from brent before. But as ever non-actions speak louder than words with a brent 'budget' already causing one key player to turn down an offer and another certain to follow. DA is attracting interest from Championship clubs and it's only a matter of time before the miracle worker goes to a club with a proper owner/chairman. It's back to the basement on a brent budget in 18/19 |

More Brent We may end up with a smaller squad than last year. |

| Very likely Earwego, apparently Akkeron Argo 28 -1 for winning league, wonder what the Aviva braindeads will come up with next season to explain our lack of success as the bookies are predicting. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |
