Because my friend with the Championship on the horizon in the coming seasons I see history repeating itself.
I saw the overspend coming and it very nearly killed us, I don't want it happening again. The post administration story, the upward journey, has been sustainable and enjoyable. That is all I ask of my club.
Sadly going forwards I see the sustainability *and* the enjoyment being threatened by money matters. So far it has been getting the most from the money available and Argyle have been very very good at that, especially since Adams appointment.
Here on in though, with the way football is it becomes about how much you are prepared to throw at it. The sustainability model, the model I want followed, will only take you so far against clubs prepared to risk everything. I don't want Argyle to be that club but I know there are plenty of fans who do, plenty who are prepared to see Argyle go to the wall in pursuit of it.
Over here you guys have always been obsessed by money and conspiracy, sustainability doesn't fit the narrative on ATD, I get that, but then in truth when have I ever fitted that narrative So back in 2007 you foresaw the world cup bid [which wasted a few million on its own accord] and the fact that Stapleton,Sturrock and Todd's gang would screw things up so badly between them? Extraordinary gifts to possess. It was timing and bad decision making that led to the downfall, not going into debt itself. Here's a question for you-where do you think Argyle would be now if Holloway or Pulis had been allowed to spend the money that was later wasted on crappy pie in the sky projects and crappier players? Interesting one innit.I'll wager that the relegations, admin and the other disasters would not have happened and Argyle would have enjoyed a spell in the top tier by now and with a decent stadium into the bargain .All for the want of a bit of speculate to accumulate, which you and your cohorts were so adamantly opposed to.The Brent years have done nothing to prepare Argyle for long term success [brilliant though the on field achievements of Adams have been] and while you are doubtless wallowing in a sea of self congratulatory spunk, others are worried that indeed exactly the same patterns as in 1967/1977/1987/2007 will emerge in the future, albeit in a very different way from your own prediction.Still,if you're happy to see Argyle lose once a season on a semi permanent basis to Walsall,Fleetwood and Accrington, then so be it,doubtless those apathetic janners will be to blame again. |

| What makes me larf is this Xisle character supposedly likes sustainability, yet puts his faith in an owner whose decision making at Citibank was anything but sustainable. Then there was Oldway Manor that ran out of steam and money, which ended up in Brent asking to be bailed out yet again by public money. Then there were the Akkeron hotel loans that were called in. How does this Xisle chap believe in Brent's fiscal proberty ? The record shouts "Watch out !" Something doesn't add up here. Naughty Xisle. |
