Because my friend with the Championship on the horizon in the coming seasons I see history repeating itself. I saw the overspend coming and it very nearly killed us, I don't want it happening again. The post administration story, the upward journey, has been sustainable and enjoyable. That is all I ask of my club. Sadly going forwards I see the sustainability *and* the enjoyment being threatened by money matters. So far it has been getting the most from the money available and Argyle have been very very good at that, especially since Adams appointment. Here on in though, with the way football is it becomes about how much you are prepared to throw at it. The sustainability model, the model I want followed, will only take you so far against clubs prepared to risk everything. I don't want Argyle to be that club but I know there are plenty of fans who do, plenty who are prepared to see Argyle go to the wall in pursuit of it. Over here you guys have always been obsessed by money and conspiracy, sustainability doesn't fit the narrative on ATD, I get that, but then in truth when have I ever fitted that narrative |

| If you never want us to go for it and spend some cash to reap the rewards then enjoy life in the lower divisions.
There's nothing wrong with debt as long as it is manageable debt, take clubs like the big 4 in the Prem they all run with huge debt yet are the biggest clubs in the world. I know what I'd prefer but everyone is different. |

| I think our farm animal is confusing "sustainability" with asset and resource stripping" that these latest owners are up to. There's more than one way to skin a rabbit.... look at the Oystons for one.. If you want proof of Brent's "sustainability" credentials you need look no further than his record at Citi and the 50 billion dollar hole that grew and grew and grew on his watch. And he knew it.... and what did he do "seconds" before the balloon went up ? he scarpered with at least 50% of his ill gotten in a very big bag. Sustainability where Brent and Hallett are concerned is all a mirage, sheeps' clothing etc., and intended merely to cover redirecting straight forward club income away from the football itself, and to where ? who only knows. You probably can't see that because you're a long, long way away.
Being a proper, a true, a real green in many ways, I know sustainability is the way forward, we all do instintively. So what have the same old profiteers and con men done now sustainability is sooooo trendy ? They have stolen and misappropriated our language, used our beliefs to cover their same old tracks. Brent taking part of HHP for himself, leaving the stadium corners for future pilfering, is NOT sustainable, where the football club is concerned. He even relies on volunteers to clear rubbish and paint the stadium. |

Over here you guys have always been obsessed by money and conspiracy, sustainability doesn't fit the narrative on ATD, I get that, but then in truth when have I ever fitted that narrative The simple strawman argument "look what happen last time won't wash on here", if there has been any movement its because we were at such a low starting point, which were then followed by the two worst ever league finishes as Brent tried to run the club on the cheap. The climb up the league we should never have been in was painful with numerous false dawns and shit football. The "overspend" as you put it wasn't a case of spending too much money, it was spending too much money on clearly shit players. Bad management. The last 7 years have been shit punctuated with the occasional decent moment followed by more shit, think the Portsmouth play off semi final followed by the dross at Wembley. In the last 7 years we have seen the ground continue to rot with no sign of improvement (don't give me the mankover bollocks because that aint happening, like the mini stand), a bargain basement squad down to the abolsute bare bones because your Jimmy wouldn't sanction any replacements along with the worst type of supporters gaining influence. Nobody on this forum is obsessed with money, just calling out a shyster owner who has pulled the wool over everyones especially the keep argyle crap brigade such as yourself. |

| Perhaps here on ATD we are 'obsessed' with money - because we keep asking where has the money gone? |

Well spotted Hugh, I think most of us have spotted the online pattern by now. Funnily enough, I've just been talking with my brother on holiday about the shape of different people and motivations. He's a classic archetype, the Sage that is. Forecasts the future by controlling the past, or so he thinks. Ho hum. |

| Throbbers latest post on Pork Central currently being deciphered by Bletchley Park....... "Maybe it's just me but I saw this thread last night and thought, what a silly thing to post. I mean, is it really that surprising the feeling is different?... They are different players, playing in a different league, to one example under a different manager, after a uniquely different season of wildly fluctuating form. You are different too, you can contextualise the last two, they have ended, you know the result and have had years to digest and reflect on them. This season is here and now and you don't know where or when it will end. Of course it is going to feel different...everything is different. Of course you are nervous...you don't know how it ends" |
