If he is on £25,000-£30,000 per year for a four year contract, with +/- three years left, could Argyle afford +/- £75,000-£90,000 to waive his contract, because that would cripple the club and possible finances for a new manager down the line. 25/30k a year? Behave village, he's not a bus driver. |

Why couldn't Wotton do the job ? See The Mariner fletcher files for all the reasons and then some, |

Think you might need to revise that figure somewhat, Village. It was a bit of a low income figure I stated earlier , £70,000 + to £90,000 + might be near to it perhaps ?. Whatever the actual figure really is, Argyle would be paying out a vast sum of money should they sack him. That would take time so recoup and not an easy task should the side get relegated (they could [or would] off load the likes of Carey and one or two others) , as crowds would probably drop off, particularly season ticket sales. Not too many would pay on the day either to watch yet another spell in League Two. A new manager would be instantly placed in a no-win situation as Adams has been with recent budgets. I am hoping with all hope that Adams can turn this form around and Argyle can scrap their way to safety. |

| According to Derek in the Brentherald today 'were all in it together ', Green Jim is pledging his support at the moment and will back Derek in the free agent market. Although Derek is still trying to find a suitable free agent! Give you a little heads up Derek, Rory Fallon is up the road in Torquay - he's a free agent. He would make a good partnership with the Celtic reject. Says it all, mid October rock bottom of the league, and the under pressure manager is scrabbling around for a free agent. We're fooked! Thanks Jim |

| I'd really like to help you Del, but rools is rools. You'll just have to wait and do what you can this season. Those pesky fickle fans would like me to cheat, but I play with a straight bat.

If we lose say the next three even Brent will need to do something, if Adams and Brewster go them of course Wotton will be caretaker. Another couple of losses I think Dereks job will become untenable. |

I wasnt suggesting it was a good thing, Id like to see a an ex top player being given a chance at his first job, someone who will pull the crowds in like the shilton days. |

| Neither are particularly suited to management personality wise
Shilton had just played in a World Cup not long before and had a record number of international caps.
Paul Wotton has no International caps and has not played in a world cup, still eeeeee Bleeds Green eee duz. |

Of the two, it'd be Cocko every time. As one of the most popular players ever he'd certainly get fan backing. But of course it could all go Mariner-esque Pete Tong. I'm not sure Wotton would even want the top job in any case. There's every chance it could end in relegation and a probable sacking in 6 months. Where does he go from there? At least as a number two there's a fair chance that you simply assist the next gaffer, like he did from Shez>>>>>Adams. |

| Don't know if anyone else heard Derek on radio Dem this morning, but the story was "Derek Adams gives a big thumbs up to James Brent" for supporting him during the terrible start to the season. Derek was saying how supportive Lord Jim and the board had been in reassuring him they would continue to support him believing results would improve. Surprisingly there was no mention of it today in the daily rag - or was I dreaming it? Either way Derek is saying all the right things - just don't get Akkeron Argo into the Championship Derek it may be awkward for the reluctant spender. |

| You say that, but what will he have to pay extra for ? No one can force him to pay higher wages, and of course the previous owners will want their share of the tv money. So, he could just do an "Oyston", keep the budget the same as it was in League 1, but in a higher division with big tv money, and take the tumble back down to where he was in the first place. Todd can get some returned bunce as per the loan note, and the pension pot can receive a nice little top up from the end of year profit. I would have thought he'd be champing at the bit. |
