| Scunthorpe newsScunthorpe only have 18 fit player at the moment with long term injuries to (Luke Williams, Kyle Wootton and Jonathon Margettsand) they are away to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday Quote We only have Kevin missing from Saturday, so we’ll probably go with the 18-man squad we have left fit, and make any changes to the team that we feel will benefit them. I’ve not seen the physios yet but will get the report (on Kevin) later on Monday. The squad won’t change but we have a fit group of players, we’re only into the fifth game of the season, there’s plenty of energy left in the boys’ legs and I’m looking forward to seeing them compete against a top quality opposition. Away to PlymouthThe Iron have been handed an initial allocation of around 350 tickets for the away trip to take on Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, August 26th (3pm kick-off). Please note, United receive 5% of all ticket sales purchased in advance, but receive nothing if they're bought on the day at Home Park.Coach to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, 26th August, 2017£31 members, £33 non-members Ashby Broadway* - 6.00am Museum - 6.10am Baths Hall - 6.15am Glanford Park - 6.30am Referee for this game is Christopher Sarginson (The man who failed to send off a player for assaulting a ball-boy in the home game against Leyton Orient last season)

| SCUNTHORPE VIEW ON SATURDAY GAME
Manager Graham Alexander will be looking to take all three points from his side’s long trip to Plymouth Argyle at the weekend, but knows it will be a hard game. Ticket News Plymouth away tickets go on sale 23 August 2017
The hosts have got off to a good start to life in League One after promotion and Alexander is aware of that.
He spoke ahead of the fixture at Home Park, while also providing information on team news
ON THE PLYMOUTH AWAY CLASH…
GA: I’m expecting a very difficult game. Plymouth are a good team. They’ve been on a crest of a wave since promotion and it’s always a difficult venue to visit, but we’re looking forward to it. We always look forward to the challenge of each opponent and the distance we have to travel now, the players are used to it. When we go to these away games I don’t think it’s ever really impinged on our performance in the past and I don’t see it doing that this weekend either. Every game is there to be won. We always look to try and win the game. I’m sure Plymouth will want to win the game as well, so that’s why I think it will be two good teams going against each other, but with a winning mentality, trying to take the three points. We want to build on our good start and I feel we’ve improved in each game.
"We want to build on our good start and I feel we’ve improved in each game." Graham Alexander, manager
ON FACING NEWLY PROMOTED SIDES…
GA: I think most teams when they get promoted always have that winning mentality. If the squad or team doesn’t change that much, then you take that feeling into the next division. We know they’ve got several good players down there and that sort of team spirit can cause you problems. We never really look at the past of any club. We look at the qualities they have, any possible weaknesses they might have, and we go and concentrate on our own performance. We have a formula that suits the players and certainly suits me, and we take it into the next game.
ON PLAYERS RECOVERING FROM TUESDAY…
GA: The players that played on Tuesday were recovering on Thursday out on the pitch with the rest of the boys. We had a good training session with the lads that didn’t play in miweek and we will try and get everyone in the same physical shape come Friday morning, so we can pick the right team. The players get looked after, they understand the professionalism that’s needed when you’re playing games and there are short recoveries. Everyone knows what it’s about playing every three days, and we have to approach each game accordingly. The importance of the players looking after themselves, regardless what we do with them, is paramount. If they don’t they get found out and we will know and the opposition will know. The players are very professional in their approach to everything.
SCUNTHORPE TEAM NEWS…
GA: Kevin van Veen and Jordan Clarke are going to train, but it might be a bit too soon for them at the weekend and we'll just see how they are fitness-wise after Thursday. We never really take a massive gamble with players when we put them back into training. Kyle Wootton, Jonny Margetts and Luke Williams are all a few good weeks away at the moment.
ON THE TRAVELLING FANS…
GA: It was great to see them all at Middlesbrough and hopefully we can take good numbers down to Plymouth. We know the difficulties of getting there, but their support to us is invaluable. We need it, we want it and we want to respect the responsibility to put on a show every time they come to follow us. We will work our socks off to give them a result and make the long journey back a happy one. We do value that support week in week out.

| TO the Green Army – especially those who sweated all summer on him signing a new contract –Graham Carey is a supreme playmaker with wizardry in his left boot who is essential to any Argyle side.
However, new Pilgrim Nadir Ciftci, who roomed with the Irishman for a fortnight when they were both on trial with Dundee United four years ago, has rather a different, almost unbelievable, memory of his team-mate.
“He was a left-back at that time and didn’t get into the team; then he went away,” he said.
“It was a good two weeks with him. I know him really well, but he is capable of more things than I thought – now he’s a No.10.”
On-loan Celtic forward Nadir has also come across the Pilgrims’ former Scottish Premiership contingent with who he is now vying for a starting berth – Lionel Ainsworth, Jake Jervis, Gary Miller and Gregg Wylde – when he was north of the border. That has helped him settle in at Home Park in plenty of time for this Saturday’s Sky Bet League One game there against Scunthorpe United.
“It’s always good to go where you know one or two players,” he said. “They know how you can play and you know how he can play, so it makes it much easier.
“There has to be competition with each other, but in a good way. It’s a team game; it’s not all about me or him or him – we do it together, assist each other, and achieve everything together because you don’t achieve anything by yourself.”
As well as familiar faces, the Turkish striker has been impressed with life generally at a Home Park still basking in last season’s promotion success and a good start to life in League One.
He said: “To come into a place where everything is positive vibes, everyone is smiling...everybody is really happy at the moment.
“Hopefully we can keep those smiles on those faces with our achievements that we want, and the club wants, and the fans want.

| I put this on here from the FOCP thread on HT so more fans can drop in at the clock tower and see the master plan for Central Park and your view is still needed. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]On the way to Home Park today drop in and and ask how Jimmy development will effect the park master plan and where everyone are going to park. The more Argyle fans question it the better |

| Don't think 4 pts from possible 12 is a particularly good start. |

| We played pretty well in the first half. Despite conceding I still thought we'd get something from the game. The sending off changed things, obviously, but we still started the second half well, and I thought we might get an equaliser.
Then we conceded the second and everyone related to Argyle stopped giving a sh*t, including me. |

| 4-0 was very harsh but they took their chances, we didn't.
Stupid and completely unecessary red card didn't help. |
