| I'm not so sure that it is inevitable that we have to eventually leave EU. The referendum certainly advises that we do but advice can be ignored. Legally this is no problem at all. Politically, too, there is strong pressure to realise the referendum result but all that takes to be undermined is a subsequent election result to queer the pitch. It could, for instance, be a manifesto pledge for the winning side that we Remain. Not only would there then be no collective desire amongst MPs, as there isn't now, to vote for Leave but there'd be a clear mandate not to too. It could even transpire that the Tory election expenses scandal sees seats won fraudulently and results set aside or over-turned, the Tory majority government then would not ever have happened, the Referendum Act would never have been passed, the Referendum would never have happened so the Referendum/result/all of it result could be declared void by the Electoral Commission as a result. Which would be huge fun, should it happen. Breaking: Johnson quits. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. |

| Pretty clear that Boris is playing the long game. Anyone taking the leadership now will be inheriting not a poisoned, but toxic chalice. They're in a completely no win situation. The leader who oversees our withdrawal from Europe and the break up of the UK, or the leader who ignores the referendum result and keeps us in the EU.
Boris will sit on the sidelines until 2020 or so, then step in to save the day when all of his broken promises about Brexit will have faded away in the mists of time. |

| I'm not joining in the populist opinion that Brexit won't happen it will, the form it takes will be the interesting bit. I just wish they would get on with so I don't have to read any more of Franzis cheap Gaurdian led propaganda, memes, gifs, pie charts ect. They started out as a boring insult to the intelligence they make me want to vomit now. It like 14 year old poster art for fifty something straights, give me strength. Anyhow I'm off to cry myself dry at my hero Bojo quitting. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. God you lot really are grasping at straws, Tories choose new pm, they invoke article 50 [i personally think sooner rather than later at pressure from eu and more importantly the markets] they then start the process of withdrawal and trade deals. No one knows what form it will take because we're breaking new ground. If they remain there will be a bloodbath and I don't mean figuratively speaking or a meeting of 400 students at Westminster, snigger, they won't dare not do it. Brussels has accepted it IMO it just needs the Gaurdian reading population to follow although whether you do or not will have no bearing on the process no matter how much you whine, bitch and shout. |

I know "lying politicians" is something of a cliché but, seriously, why would you even give them the benefit of the doubt?

| [Edward Heath], who sold out Britain's interests to the Common Market and gave our sovereignty away without our consent—with support of Mr Thorpe and the Liberals—is not entitled to wave the Union Jack to get himself out of the mess. Speech in Bristol (31 November, 1973). ' 'Democracy in danger' warning by Mr Benn', The Times (1 December, 1973), pp. 1-2.
Apparently some bloke called Tony Benn said the above, whatever it means.... |

| Britain's continuing membership of the Community would mean the end of Britain as a completely self-governing nation and the end of our democratically elected Parliament as the supreme law making body in the United Kingdom. Letter to Bristol constituents (29 December 1974).
That pesky Mr Benn again..... |

| ." The Common Market will break up the UK because there will be no valid argument against an independent Scotland, with its own Ministers and Commissioner, enjoying Common Market membership. We shall be choosing between the unity of the UK and the unity of the EEC. It will impose appalling strains on the Labour movement...I believe that we want independence and democratic self-government, and I hope the Cabinet in due course will think again. Speech given in the Cabinet meeting to discuss Britain's membership of the EEC, as recorded in his diary (18 March 1975), Against the Tide. Diaries 1973-1976 (London: Hutchinson, 1989), pp. 346-347.
AND AGAIN.... |

The "problem" is that one minute you're lecturing from the position that were all Farage manic kippers, we're not, then from the position that we are Bojo supporters, we're not, then from the franzinely ludicrous position that we are Tories, it's a feckin joke and no mistake. At least you've stopped with the insulting racist shite but I won't hold my breath. The only constant is that you seem to think that you and you alone hold some moral high ground, only in your mind mate, only in your mind. |

| What a choice we have.
Liam Fox - Former defence secretary who got sacked for letting his mate into classified meetings.
Steven Crabb - Thinks homosexuality can be cured. Has a shit beard and bad teeth.
Michael Gove - Thinks people should ignore expert advice and rely on blind predjudice. Looks like he is being sucked down a plughole
Theresa May - Wants to scrap human rights act and replace police force with security companies. Looks like Chris Grayling with a bob.
Andrea Leadsom - Looks Mrs Mcluskey from grange hill if she had been dead for 5 years. Serial tax dodger. Utterly in the pocket of energy companies
