Hartley Haring Off ? Dear God how fecking low under Brent have we sunk when someone like Hartley considers a grim northern shithole like Grimsby preferable to Plymouth..... I think his has got less to do with Brent and more to do with Hartley being from the North East. |

| It's all a game at this stage, isn't it?
Argyle: Here you go, Pete. Here's our contract offer. You've got until the end of June when the current one expires.
Hartley: Thanks but I'm off to Majorca with the wife and kids... I'll look at it when I get back.
Hartley's Agent: Do you want to sign or do you want me to look around.
Hartley: Let's go fishing and see what we can catch!
Hartley's Agent: "Top out-of-contract CB up for grabs @ such-and-such a price" (= what Argyle offerered plus 25%) and spreads the word via email/friendly journalists/other agents.
Grimsby/Hartlepool/Whoever: We'll give you what Argyle offerered +15%
Hartley's Agent (to Argyle): Thanks for the new contract offer but we've had a better offer. Pete doesn't want to leave but the offer we have is closer to his home and is more than you have offered... He's not getting any younger and has a young family he needs to take care of but he is settled here, his wife has a nice little part-time job and the kids love their school/nursery/whatever...
And so on replicated by every other out-of-contract player. |

If Jimmy cant outbid Hartlepool and Grimsby what is the point of Plymouth having a (alleged) proffessinal football club at all? |

| I suspect much of Hartley's negotiating has already gone on up North, and he's just waiting for the Argyle clock to run out. Like Sheridan, sometimes you just want out, and have no interest whatsoever in hanging around for the pleadings of a club that hasn't done you any favours. No wonder Argyle didn't turn up at Wembley as a team, but it had been flagged on here many many times. As Reuben said, there are no secrets. All the players will have been confiding with each other as to what their plans might be. Probably all got the hump over the insulting delays back in January. Only personal professional pride kept the standards at just about acceptable levels.
The good news is Adams will stay though. There won't be a Southampton offer on his doorstep, and bar that, he's not the quitting sort, as was shown at Ross County when his father had to tell him the bad news. The lucky break that Adams could and should have been has now diluted by Brent's austere dithering to just him and the couple of loyal players he brought with him. |

Having seen what those idiots who bought albion are up too you above statement can easily apply to them. Barnstaple is a bigger pull that Albion for their top players due to the low wages offered by Albion. and they fired a credible coach to hire a part timer. |

| It,s all looming closer in the continuing Brentmare, Wotton as manager and Tyler Harvey our main striker. Couple of seasons and will be looking forward to the local derby with Truro. |

He soon signed a deal with us when there was F#@K all on offer when he left stevenage though A bit like Brent doing a runner from Citigroup months before the $50 billion hole that turned into $2 trillion subsidy, when he, in his own words " could see the market was about to make a correction". Off he toodled, pockets bulging. Hartley has certainly steadied the defence big time, and he will be much missed. It's work, it's self motivating, it's removed from community. That's how this club has been ever since the stadium was purchased from the council. The co-op shops are still going though, despite the huge competition. "Loved by us", despite it's irritating ways. Didn't we used to have a co-op thread on here ? Something rings a bell. |

| i believe Argyle will struggle next season and finish in mid-table. Adams will have a shite budget to play with again and that will be a travesty.
Over the road there they do not seem too bothered by possible departures and no signings as yet. They still think Brent is the bees knees, the fools. |

| Nothing to do with salary, get over it, he just wants to get back home, nothing unusual in that.
Not too fussed about him going really, our defence was sadly lacking in height last season so for me it's probably for the best. |

That just doesn't ring true - but if it is then as fans we deserve some serious explanation. No matter how much the Harper's Park refurb costs the state of the club's finances must be much better now than it was a year ago given the cash injection from Hallet, the re-scheduling of the bubble payment, the Joe Mason windfall, Wembley and the rise of around 1500 for our average match day attendance. I find it impossible to believe that Harper's Park is getting that much spent on it that it is eating up every last penny and more of the club's improved financial position in comparison to where we were last season: it's as unthinkable as it is impossible. Especially when you consider that the club wouldn't spend a measly few hundred quid to paint a wall. Nope. Sorry. I'm calling bullshit on this one. |

So how much confidence do you have that we'll sign a better defender than Hartley? We now have to sign someone simply to stand still. If Hartley could earn more money at Argyle and believed that there was a concerted effort to achieve promotion he would stay. Quite simply there is nothing he can see that gives him any incentive to stay. So that's one of the "retained" list not retained. |

So that's one of the "retained" list not retained. You may be right but we don't know yet that he's off or where he's heading if he is, do we? And I suspect that he himself doesn't yet know either. There's still plenty of time for this to develop yet - and who knows where it'll end up? |

Plus as a sidenote inst related to this topic but as they do read this site to create stories as the do with pasoti Will Grigg plays for Northern Ireland not Republic of Ireland |
