My late Dad used to get books out of the library at Efford on a regular basis. He'd quite happily toddle up there and get a few novels to read but after a while, given that the selection at the Efford library was fairly limited, he'd exhausted all the Wilbur Smith, Alaister Maclean, Frederick Forsyth styled novels and used to grab pretty much anything that caught his attention.

Much to my surprise he passed one of them on to me on one occasion with the rejoinder "don't think much of this but it might appeal to you". The novel? JG Ballard's Crash which is all about a symphorophiliac. I started to read it but didn't finish. Do not attempt to read this novel if easily shocked!

I think Dad had quite enjoyed Empire Of The Sun and decided to follow the author...

Now i know why theres so many traffic jams now days..hahaha
