| Cobblers-presumably it was a shoemaking town at one time? They had one season in the top flight in the 1960's after working their way up the leagues from the fourth division, then disappeared back down just as fast. They used to play at the cricket ground in Northampton. George Best once scored six goals in an FA cup tie at Northampton. Can't think of anything else. |

| I see the official knives are out for JS on the "automatic promotion is beyond us" Pasoti thread. Head detective giraffe is giving up his season ticket and JS doesn't seem to have much support from elsewhere. Have they all come to this conclusion independently within the past 24 hours?

You don't hear a feckin peep out of 'em when Argyle win a few games. Demport Dave, Bristol Rich, Arrythewurzel, Fordgreen, some bloke called Sloggett and the rest of them, quiet as mice they are. Two games with the only reliable source of goals out of the team [which never gets a mention] and in they wade, armed with their Gary Neville Boys Book of Tactics. Not talking behind their backs either, pointed it out quite a few times on PASOTI.As you say though not much support, one does feel as if one is pissing into the wind sometimes. If Argyle don't get promoted and Shez does get the boot, it'll be interesting to see what happens then. Very interesting. |

| Famous comic writer Alan Moore (Watchmen, From Hell and many other classics) is from (and still lives in Northampton) - he also wrote a rather good novel - Voice of the Fire - set in Northampton. |

I see uber-thicko and Brent/Nool arselicker-in-chief Monkeywrench has been rewarded for his loyalty to the cause with a Farm Modship. He's right up the with GreenArmy84 when it comes to ability to debate an argument. His contributions used to consist almost entirely of... "Well said, Ian" "But he saved us!" "Just get it built" |

| I lived there for 20 odd years so have many Friends who are Cobblers supporters. The town itself is an utter dump but I have to say that some of the Northamptonshire villages are fantastic and as nice as the villages of Devon and Cornwall any day of the week. A must win today but they will be feeling confident after some of their recent performances. Northampton is famous for it's lift tower. Express lifts built it to test their lifts. It is now a listed building but they have built a housing estate all around it. In it's heyday Terry Wogan used to call it the Northampton Lighthouse the local joke being they haven't had a shipwreck in Northampton since it was built. |

| Bloody good rugger team! spoke to a guy last year from Northampton he said the town is mainly rugby. Anyway on current form we may struggle to get a result today at Gnome Park. |

| Reuben back in for Brunt please, otherwise the same. Potentially Mellor for Talbot, but both are quality players. I fancy us to put in a decent shift today. |

Why? I rather see Mellor play who i think is better and also talbot wastes so uch that he is a liability on the ball.. |

| McCormick Mellor, Nelson, Hartley, McHugh, Talbot Holmes-Dennis, O'Connor, B.Reid, Alessandra, R.Reid
Bittner, Purrington, Cox, Banton, Blizzard, Harvey, Brunt
Hard to work out a formation - lots of wingers/wingbacks. Not many centre midfielders. |
