Rebuilding the grandstand and filling in the corners will give the ground more appeal to the potential fanbases of Argyle and Albion, particularly if the opportunity to go higher in the future is factored in and financially/practically viable.

That would require vision from the council though Rolling Eyes

Supporters of both clubs would probably contribute to the extra costs if the future was bright and secured.

Argyle and/or Albion in the PL would massively raise Plymouth's profile nationally.

Albion at Home Park?

Madness.

It's bad enough as it is... The last thing you want is Albion and their university chums meddling in the affairs of Argyle and what is best for the football club at Home Park.

The Council will be borrowing the money and will do the minimum - if the club defaults on increased rental payments, (and at the moment Brent is not paying any!) then the non Argyle attending council tax payers (the vast majority) would be exposed to a higher build cost just to make the corners look 'nicer', after all if the Mayflower was closed the ground is quite big enough! (for now).
The future will only be secured and somewhat brighter when Brent makes the ballon payment...........

This is my main concern with all of this. Who ever is going to be funding the grandstand, they're not going to spend a penny more than they have to. I fear, as others have said, we could end-up with an even bugger fecked-up smaller stand than Brent and his weasels proposed.

It'll be interesting to see whether the grandstand will contain the retail outlets/top rate conference and hospitality areas which were originally intended to assist PAFC to be self-sufficient. Also, what about the 'small tract of land' currently in council ownership which was being transferred to Akkeron?

Of course it will, Brent isnt going to give up on his gold mine just like that if he can fit one or two shops and his nandos into the new small stand and corporate shit he will.

Anyone that ever goes round the Kassam Stadium complex on a non match day esp the cinema and food area opposite will get a good indication of the footfall of such an area that is "Out of town" on a non match day - and that is - its dead...

How good we are doing, the bad days are behind us, looking forward to the new grandstand, which we need to go forward. Partner for the grandstand is still not being named, ITV thinks it is the Council. Graham might be along and put more meat on the bone.

A take over of Albion is still on the cards and contingent on the new owners being allowed to develop Brickfields a la Sandy Park, Brent is most certainly not involved with that so I expect it to happen.

If Brickfields goes ahead it will have good corporate facilities, and arguably in a better location so I guess that removes the need at HHP for the same.

cheers

however these new owners if or indeed when they take over they might want to invest in the team first as they are on the verge of being relegated.

Almost a good result tonight though! Investment would follow, these people were instrumental in getting the Chiefs where they are now. Albion is being run like a pub team at the moment.

I see that Cardiff now have a 20k fanbase in the Championship, even in mid table. Along with others like Reading, Hull and Norwich in the past, they are historically on a par with Argyle, support wise.

Whilst our 'high profile' fans and the Aviva faithful are ever so grateful to still have a club and are cool with a ministand and boxing in the club to stop future development, others have and will think bigger.

Wonder how Tudor and the PCC Planning Officers will respond to this report?

Quote :
The City Centre Company wants the city centre to be designated as the main area for retail development in the city, as well as taking in more hotels and restaurants.

Whatever next. How dare these tourists and business visitors want to sleep near the main shops, tourist attractions, restaurants and entertainment venues. Absolutely disgraceful.

Heard this morning from a Council Officer, that in the Council eyes the Grandstand is dead in the water where they are concern. The only way Brent will beable to start at this time on a new Grandstand  is IF he as a backer with money.
