What's yer favourite World Cup?

I fooking loved the 1998 one. Obvo it could have done with a portion of Gascoigne in there too, but it had a pretty beasty England side who went out on penos to an Argentina bunch who weren't too shabby themselves. Becks' moment of fookwittery. Hoddle. Michael Owen as a 17yo. Then it had fat Ronaldo looking like he was going to take Brazil all the way, Zinedine Zidane usurping him, Ariel Ortega, Bergkamp's magic vs Argentina in the next round. Good tournie.

Obvo I'm only YOOF so I don't remember much before that. Well, I remember the most boring cup final of all time between Italy and Brazil in 94 as well as Stoichkov being pretty slick. Gheorghe Hagi.

Since 98, they've been pretty meh.

Haven't watched much of the last few World/European cup. I hate repeats.

I perticularly enjoyed the '66 campaign, me and the other kids in my infant school formed a "crew" and went mental all round the pubs in Landan. It was less about the football in those daze and more an excuse for an orgy of violence. Sadly we had to return the Bananas we'd bought due to the lack of Black players to throw them at.

Non of that really happened, just getting it in there before somebody else imagined it for me.

Got to be 1966.I was only 6 but can still remember that final and everything leading up to it as clear as day.Bobby's screamer against Mexico,Korea,Eusebio,the Rattin sending off,Alf calling the Argies "animals",that semi final against Portugal,Pele getting kicked off the pitch and out of the tournament and the final itself,watched it in my Gran's front room absolutely spellbound by every minute.Don't think i'll see England win another world cup,so count myself very lucky to have been just in time,as it were.1982 was good,with England there after a long absence and a brilliant Brazillian team getting knocked out by Italy in one of the best matches ever.1990 wasn't actually a good tournament but England reached the semi and were unlucky not to win the competition,they would have beating the Argies had they reached the final.Worst ever was 1970,can still feel the bile in my throat when the Jerries beat us 3-2 after they poisoned Gordon Banks,that was the start of a long period of decline for the England team.They did us again with the help of Blatter and a Uruguayan linesman in 2010-bastards.

1990 for me.i was 18 , flew to naples,met up with some Oldham lads , got the ferry to Sardinia and then had the most bonkers,scarey,hilarious 2 weeks of my life.
Glad i went then instead of all this face painted,drum playing bullshit that seems to occur now.
