| I've changed the forum main picture to our traditional poppy one for this time of year.
It's the same on we had last year so there shouldn't be any problems with the forum sizing or colours!
If there is let me/us know and it can be fixed. |

| I fully support the Poppy appeal but I won't. Not yet anyway. Like Christmas this gets earlier every year. The Armistice was on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month not in October.
I find the rush to be seen to be wearing a poppy a little distasteful. It's all a bit too pious and holier than thou for me. What next? Wear one all year round?
Each to their own though.

I think I agree with you but if capitalist can start Christmas in August I am more than happy to see a worthwhile appeal brought forward if it means that a few extra bob can be raised for an excellent cause. |

| I don't think that was what he was saying Angry and FWIW I think it can devalue things when they get overdone, I will wait on mine and as for Crimbo avatars, it's enough to make me flounce. |

It's an interesting point. The increasingly hysterical reaction in the media to anyone who doesn't wear a poppy is pretty depressing. Last year there was a Premiership football who didn't wear one and the tabloids went nuts. Another indication of the hypocritical self-righteousness of the media (and those members of the public who parrot whatever the tabloids say because they are apparently unable to think for themselves). As far as I am aware the British Legion have never criticised anyone for not wearing a poppy, and maintain that the choice should be down solely to the individual. |

McClean outright refused to wear a shirt with an embroidered poppy. It's not like he forgot to pick one up at the garage. He was making a political stand. |

| For various reasons, I've spent a lot of time recently talking to my mum about WWII: she was a teenager and was called up into the navy when she was old enough (although she'd probably have volunteered anyway), so she's got lots to tell, both about her experiences and what she knows of my father's (he was also in the navy, and served on the Arctic Convoys).
Because of those conversations, I've actually got a poppy this year - usually I just put some money in the tin - and I shall wear it. But only on Monday. |
