Bradford City's appeal against Charlie Wyke's red card against Argyle has been rejected

Bradford striker Charlie Wyke will serve a three-match ban after failing in an appeal to have a red card overturned, the club have announced.
Wyke was sent off for violent conduct in the closing stages of the Bantams’ 1-0 Sky Bet League One defeat at Plymouth on Saturday, but the club was unable to persuade disciplinary chiefs of his innocence, as they did successfully following his dismissal against Oxford on December 30.

A statement on the club’s official website said: ‘City striker Charlie Wyke will miss the Bantams’ next three Sky Bet League One fixtures after the club’s appeal against his red card at Plymouth Argyle was rejected by the FA.

‘Wyke was dismissed for violent conduct in the final minute of normal time during City’s game with Plymouth at Home Park last Saturday.

‘The club decided to appeal the sending-off, but the three-game ban was upheld by the FA’s Regulatory Commission.’

Wyke, who has 14 goals so far this season, will now sit out clashes with Portsmouth, MK Dons and Wigan – a significant blow as City attempt to close a three-point gap to the play-off places.
