Thanks for that. I have only ever used posters "real names" who have engaged with me personally, via PM or in the case of Nigel via Skype.

Its been done in a friendly manner not as you may suggest.

On that basis unless Nigel or anyone else raises an issue (which they haven't) then I'm not sure why it is your place to defend someone who doesn't need to be defended because there isn't an issue.

Because in using their real names in a 'friendly' manner you're also outing them to everybody else. Including, for instance, the children they teach in schools, or the clients they need to maintain a professional distance from.

As Penzance pointed out, it's simple internet etiquette which is respected everywhere. Or nearly everywhere.

I have to say that I find the usage of of someone's real name as opposed to their alias a very odd thing to do.

I commented because I found the thread a good read.

I've read a few pages of this thread and to be honest cannot be bothered to read it all. I have made my opinion known on what I see the role of a President being which is to encompass ALL supporters via ALL forums and to treat them with equal measure. I do not see there should be any difference in tone in imparting information and once it is given out then that is where the role ends. It does not include getting into argument about it. The information is factual and therefore whatever it involves has been decided by the club and is not something for a President to debate either for or against. In short the post is impartial.

The fact that The President has decided to post information on this site is to be welcomed and is indeed what people have complained hasn't happened previously in a fair and even manner. There are other sites also where this should happen no matter how small a clientel it has. So, as long as the information is given, or if support is thought neccessary for something, i.e. Sue Pollard's fan of the year attempt, it is sought across the boards that is all that is needed. The people who frequent that site can then debate it and dismiss it or do what they want with it but can't complain they have been excluded. There is no need for the President to be slapped down as the giver of the information on a personal level or become involved in any arguments it creates. That includes on any site be it PASOTI or ATD or whatever. In other word give the information and no more anywhere. A lonely life maybe but that is the nature of the beast when you join the ruling classes.
