| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Bit of a surprise TBH,he was on about the summer signings he was going to make over the weekend.Moving upstairs to the BoD,wonder if he'll be a back seat driver? Depends who takes over i suppose.Hell of a career though, must be one of the most successful in football history,in any country. |

| Paddy Power were suggesting this would happen last night. At least Man Utd have learnt this time to not announce his retirement in the middle of the season and completely collapse in form.
I've never liked the bloke but he is a winner and turned Man Utd from an average side to one of the best teams in Europe (arguably helped by one of the best groups of young players to ever come through a club's ranks at around the same time).
I think Fletch would do a good job there- he is an outstanding individual! |

| Moyes refusal to sign a new deal at everton seems relevant to this story. |

| If he had taken a club that had potential that had never been realised from the lowest league in football and got it to the Premier I may have had some respect, but he didn't, he just managed the biggest club in the world and bought most of the glory.
Newell will be gutted though! |

| With his glowing tributes and respect shown to Ferguson during this season's Champions League, Mourinho might get the gig.
IMO he's the only one proven at the level and a big enough personality to almost guarantee continued success. |

| José Mourinho has just texted me. First off he says who are these pair of cnuts, Spewell and De-Liar, secondly he's about to sign on the dotted line for UTD, in a 4 year deal.

IMO he's the only one proven at the level and a big enough personality to almost guarantee continued success. You could be right and could impact on Ronaldo. Announcement now likely to move Chelsea to make a quick announcement about "The Special One". Tisdale has already talked himself out of the job claiming he is only 5 years into his 30 year project to get City into the League 1 playoffs. |

Newell will be gutted though! are you on drugs ? After the Charlton/Law/Best era they were going nowhere with poor management........Ferguson had a successful time with Aberdeen....overthrowing the old firm monopoly and winning everything in Scotland over an eight year period. Helped Man U build a dynasty over the following years........not a sugar daddy club like Man C & Chelsea.......outlasting Liverpool & Arsenal.....he will be a hard act to follow just like Sir Matt Busby was when he left. |

| Whatever your view, no arguing that Ferguson is a winner. Aberdeen were a great side under him and Man Utd developed a youth system envied throughout the world under him and time and time again he dismantled one side and created another side. Football is entertaining under him and he was feared by his staff, players and Directors.
Man Utd before him was a club forever in turmoil, now it is a World powerhouse.
Not a Man Utd fan, never will be...however when City played them in the FA Cup, they guaranteed a full house by offering vouchers for the Inter Milan game on the Tuesday, ensuring City got a huge payout from the gate receipts. Ferguson was instramental in that decision...TOTAL RESPECT

| What had a greater effect on this dynasty, Ferguson or the stock exchange floatation/intro of the "Premership"? |

| People go on about all the money he has had to spend on players. But its all self generated through his own success. Utd were on there last legs when he took over
the man is a genius and will go down as the greatest ever manager. |

Sorry but I couldn't stand the sour-faced cnut or his team but credit where it's due he has won everything in football and then some. He even did it with a team full of kids. I can't think of anyone who compares to him. I've always thought Moyes would succeed him too and that is now odds on. |

Newell will be gutted though! I don't believe I am reading that Gob. Flamin heck he got the job because of his incredible 7 years at Aberdeen winning several league titles plus 7 cups including success in Europe when up against the old firm giants who had never had their monopoly on success broken like it before or since. Before that he was also very successful at St Mirren taking them from almost bottom of league 2 to the top of league 1. He served his apprenticeship and worked his way up to the top job in Britain on merit and then gave them unprecedented success as well. |

| he is the greatest, he has rebuilt his team over and over again during an age where he has had to adapt to footballers becoming millionaires and the introduction of sports science. plus modern day football becoming such a money driven industry
no other manager has had to cope with such a change in times
fergie is the greatest of all time |
