The alarm is programmed to beep when the back up batteries run out, why they program them to do this at midnight is beyond me, must be because the timeline is different in china where they are made?

I agree with Gob you can't have to many hammers -- Sledge, lump, ball pien, rubber and dead blow etc. if you break something accidentally you can smash it beyond recognition and then deny ever seeing it in the first place. hammers one of life's great gifts.

Good news Charlie, ETA Millbay 2230 on Wed, no pilot required, ETD 1500 Thursday.

Too windy for the Tonia.

The other day, there was an elderly couple on the bus, going into town with their shopping trolley.

Totally mundane, except ... Number one, it was 7.30 in the morning, two hours before they could travel free on their passes, and a good hour and a half before most of the shops open. And number two, it was the third day in a row they'd been on that bus.

That's a huge conundrum to deal with at that time of day.

They keep going back for another look at the HHP plans. It's the most exciting thing that's happened to them for years. Since Beryl went through the change and started doing crack to replace the thrill of their now non-existent sex life.

Albert still needs his thrice weekly work out but not being able to afford a lady of the night he makes do with a partially carved out water melon, currently on offer at Morrisons btw.

They take the early bus because they need to get back home safely before Beryl's hit wears off and she starts coming down. Last time they hung around a bit too long and Albert had to do without water melon for three months when Beryl took exception to the town cryer and his feckin annoying bell which had to be surgically removed.

Probably.

I think you're probably right. Especially the bit about Morrisons, as that involves changing buses whichever one you go to.

I should be able to sleep now.

Mind you, though - two bus fares (or a Dayrider). Makes even less sense financially when they could do it for nothing after 9.30. Even if it does mean half price watermelons. Maybe the Morrisons bit is wrong.

Watermelon juice was my favourite drink ever when I was in India. Refreshing, but not as heavy as, say, pineapple juice. Never did work out how they squeeze them, though.

I hate the elderly who insist on clogging up public spaces outside of working hours.

They get the entire daytime during the week to fumble with change, walk slowly and stink of piss...why are they doing it in, ahem, the Marks & Sparks food aisles on a Sat'dee morning?!

They also queue up outside the Post Office on Wednesday mornings to collect their pension, even though their pension has been paid direct into their bank account for the last five years.

Then they moan if they get mugged! They might as well wear a flashing "I've got loads of cash on me" neon sign.

And they all have cats, which is a good enough reason for euthanasia on its own.

My gran called me last week and I answered "Hello Nan, how are you"? She couldn't understand how I knew it was her without answering the phone and she started crying saying I was psychic and I now knew that I wasn't her favourite grandchild and she has a recurring fantasy about taking her teeth out and giving Bruce Forsyth a blow-job while he presented Strictly Come Dancing.

Sadly, I can't report on the presence or otherwise of said elderly couple on the 7.30 bus this morning. However, I shall be on the lookout next time I have to go in that early.

Monday, I think.

In all seriousness Peggy, I wonder if you should report this couple to the police, they are obviously up to something.

It was so cold last night I had to dig out some winter jamas.

Still, I slept well knowing that I've now renewed my photo driving licence and won't therefore be going to prison.

I still proudly own my original paper licence, I had to produce it a while back to a young copper who told me it was illegal not to carry photo ID whilst driving. After me insisting he gave me a ticket for it he went on the radio for a couple of minutes, gave me back my licence and told me that if I didn't shut up he would do me for wasting police time.

Mrs PP and I were in town (one of my few visits), and being helpful sorts asked if a partially sighted gentleman with a white stick if he wanted help crossing the road at Coburg Street. He said that he did and was very grateful.

Mrs PP then asked where he wanted to go, to which he replied 'Specsavers'.

I waited until he was out of earshot before the sniggering began.

Does that make me a bad person?
