Day off. Watching a VERY mundane county cricket match on the tellybox while I catch up on correspondence, bill-paying and innumerable other domestic chores.

I discovered today that I have been driving uninsured since June! In spite of telling me they had, they hadn't taken my money so no insurance.

When I asked to do it now they said that prices had risen so it would cost me £70 more than if they had taken it in June. I complained and they put it back to the June price.

But they were excellent to talk with and responded very quickly. Shop at the Co-op .... you know it makes sense.

Gave my hedge a proper trimming - filled 5 (five!) of those green garden waste bags.

Someone said the council will only take two bags, but you can play the sympathy card if u can get a little old lady to stand in the doorway, holding her back in mock pain, and looking forlorn, when they do the pickup.

Does anyone have a little old lady I can borrow on monday morning (10.30 - 11.30 usually) to stand by my door?

I have a healthy supply of Rich Tea and Malted Milk biscuits, if that swings it for anyone...

Thought I'd ran out of cider, but have found two bottles of Henry Weston's 2010 vintage at the back of my secret cupboard in the garage.

Making sausage & mash for the family now.

If there were no other reason to vote for Jon, the fact that he possesses one of these should guarantee his victory.

In other news, the four year old has now started school full time and gone all grown up, fussing over her (empty apart from a cardigan and a drink) book bag and even (mostly) sitting quietly when asked to. I'm left somewhat bereft.

Meanwhile, I've got an interview for a serious (and I mean serious) job tomorrow*. Not mundane. Just scary.

*Never fear, Jock - it's part time.

It's good to have you posting again Peggy. The mundane thread gets quite exciting sometimes when you're not here to exert some control.

I watched a C4 documentary about Poundland this week. OMG the tricks these shops get up to in order to ensnare you with their offers, AND you don't get Nectar points innit.

Definitely not mundane. I should ban myself.

Got half a new roof on our kitchen at the moment and the weather forecast is for rain and high winds tomorrow (like the SW UK). Visited the bar today and saw piccies of that royal womans tits (not impressive, mine are much better) Smile and read the colour suplement within which was how to sort out a 3 some with pictures, an interesting drill attachment and the regular piece on sexual positions.

You can't go around making such outrageous claims. I'm sure the good folk of ATD would be able to give you an impartial opinion... geek

Just off to the post office. Need to get some bananas while I'm out, too.

Ahem. I bought milk at Lidls the other day, so didn't need any yesterday. And I haven't even started the job yet. And shopping at Waitrose means paying the bridge toll, so I wouldn't be going there even if I had. So there.

Got a load of washing out of the machine this morning, only to find there was a tissue in there so everything was covered in shredded paper. But - and this is the really spooky bit - there was nothing in there with pockets.

Washing machines are a paranormal phenomenom.

Clothes that were definitely put in them never come out, and clothing you have never seen before often emerges without explanation.

I now undertake the majority of my household's laundry and I am frequently gobsmacked by what goes on inside these things.

My little lad is currently obsessed with stones and every other load rattles with at least one little pebble and more often than not a handful of them. This is spooky because his brother, who isn't my son, used to do the exact same thing at our old place. This proves to me that it is their mother's fault and she also leaves tissues in her pockets regularly!

I'm turning into my mum.

Been drinking cider in the pubs around Maida Vale, don't you know.

The pub by the canal did the Symonds one reported some weeks ago (a snatch drier), the Eagle in my road sold a delicious organic draft, albeit the pub was catastrophic, & the one further along (the Warrington maybe?) was theatrically beautiful.... And Amy Winehouse's friend was there.

Lovely but may regret tomorrow.
