The first half was pretty average. The difference in the second half was the use of the wide men - Bhasera in particular, who gave the N'hampton full back a torrid time, and by getting decent crosses into the box at last gave the forwards something to work with. Griffiths was perhaps the ultimate impact sub - on, goal, off all in about 10 minutes, and throwing Curtis on up front was an inspired move. The second half performance was much more the way I, and I guess most supporters, want to see Argyle play. A decent win, but it's consistency that's needed. Play like we did in the first half and we'll get tanked on a regular basis. Play like we did in the second half and top six may be within reach. Will the real Plymouth Argyle please stand up. Oh, and Adebayo Akinfenwa is even more, ahem, sturdy than he was last season if you can imagine such a thing. I felt positively svelt when I saw him trundling out, but fair play to the bloke, he copped a fair amount of stick ('Here for the Pasties, you're only here for the pasties' 'He eats what he wants, he eats what he wants, Akinfemwa, he eats what he wants') but he took it with a smile and got a generous round of applause when he was substituted. |

| For a big lad he was still pretty quick. The illuminous green kit didn't flatter him though!
I thought HP looked quite empty and estimated the attendance around 5k. Lyndhurst had huge gaps and only the top half of block 3 and the top left half of block 4 looked fairly full. |

How long Freathy? The problem is that any sensible point you and Tringy have to make is lost with reactions like that. It's almost as if you enjoy Argyle losing. Why you could not welcome the win but say that one victory does not solve the core issues is beyond me. I read your comment without knowing who had posted it and my first thought was "feckin prick" I'll ask you a question (and you can answer to if you want Tringy) - would you rather be completely wrong and see a CF and JB led Argyle soar to promotion with CW and IJN as they are now or would you rather be proved right and Argyle be relegated in a sea of protest and in-fighting? I may not see CF as the man to lead us to promotion but I sure as hell want Argyle to win every single game they play and I'm delighted when they win. Happy as a badger tonight. |

So what did you do, punch? Boycott the game as per your original post/call, or merely stand outside HP with your banner, urging everyone else to boycott, before slipping into the game just before kickoff? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Feeney dipped like a cormorant. Griffiths slotted one home like a welshman with his favourite sheep on a Saturday night. Nelson leapt like a salmon and looped a header into the net. What more do you want?!
Bhasera was excellent when he was played more wide and with aggression. McDonald supplied the intelligent and incisive graft - he worked his socks off. Berry and Williams were excellent and managed to both attack and defend fairly successfully. Blanchard & Purse had their hands full but played well.
That was the second half.
In the first half we and they were crap. We were just flat and boring. We lack any creativity. We lacked anyone who could threaten the goal with either a pass or a run. It was very bad.
Thank goodness for the second half! We looked a good side. If we continue to play like that we will rise.
Incidentally, although he wasn't on for long, I thought that Griffiths showed some good possibility.

It didn't help playing 4-5-1 at home with Feeney up front on his own.To his credit i suppose,Fletcher changed it around at half time and brought MacDonald on to replace Wotton and it was a different game after that-the significant point was that all three goals came from decent crosses.I thought Griffiths did well in the very limited time that he was on the pitch [cracking pass to start the move for the second goal] but rather alarming to see him go off injured again.Bhasera was undoubtedly MOM,different class today.Nice to come away from HP in a state other than one of deep depresssion but a real test awaits at Torquay next week. |

Point of order to the point of order. If the whole of Devon and Cornwall are taken as the catchment area for Argyle then 1.594m people are boycotting the club.I thought 6000 was a pretty good gate considering. |

| First match I've seen this season but I don't think Macca was a star today. But from what I have read, he supplied the energy, strength and skill that was missing. More importantly, IF Griffiths can replicate his cameo in a full game then we have an important element in a good enough side. |

I agree, if it wasn't for Griffiths albeit short (in time) contribution we very likely wouldn't have scored the two goals to put us in the ascendancy. Feeney isn't a target man, whereas Griffiths appears to be able to hold the ball up and most importantly, use it to good affect. Let's just hope he is fit enough to cope. |

| Is leaving out Wotton the key?
We don't want blood'n'snotters, we want some attacking football. Bless him, he wasn't able to do that at his prime. Even now his one offensive weapon, the thunderbolt, seems to have deserted him. |

| I think Wotton should play in the away matches, but he is very limited at home when we need to attack. Young is very inconsistent with form and I thought he was poor today. Hourihane seems to be improving. |

| Those that went today would have to agree that, in the second half we were the better side by miles despite the goal at the death against. Tring, you have no idea what you are talking about today. You weren't there. I almost wept when Griffiths had to go off because he was the singular most influential player on the park. He received, held up and laid off the ball for the first. A cross to Feeney who got the sort of service he should get for that one. Received the ball and laid it off with a flick, got on the end of a knock back following a cross and slotted home like an accomplished striker for the second. I hope he isn't out for long because he is the player we need.
As said above, the first half was typical fare that we have been served up for too long. If you are going to give Fletcher a kicking for tactics etc. when we don't do anything then you have to give credit when he changes things and we do. The second half was a completely different story and Argyle played well. There is nobody on here with any real sense who could deny that. Anyone rubbishing the second half performance whilst Griffiths was on especially is talking through their ass. Anyone rubbishing the performance or result is just plainly bitter that their idea of Argyle came unstuck today. They need to grow up and smell the coffee instead of just being bent on making half assed comments which are totally out of line with reality. Next game might be a totally different story but not today's. Secret is get Griffiths fit and play him from the start. My opinion is that if Argyle can do that and play two up front instead of the one then Argyle will comfortably be ok this season if not setting the league alight. |
