Here is one for you Pete, man came to repair my TV yesterday and despite being told in detail what the problem was he turned up with completely the wrong part and it will be about another ten days before he will be here again, no wonder I am grumpy. Lucky to be able th find a TV repair man, none appear to want to do repairs.
Roger Baker was at Crownhill now Lipson, owned money for making Argyle match DVD I went to primary school with one of Roger Baker's daughters. Wouldn't worry about it too much, Grumpy - there's never anything on worth watching (except Have I Got News For You. And The Bridge.) In other news, I'm not having cauliflower cheese for tea today. |

| I went to pc world this afternoon for some retail therapy and for the first time in living memory I didn't find anything to drool over. I came away quite disappointed |

| Last night I convinced myself it was Friday. So much so that I actually put the telly on to watch Have I Got News For You. Oh well, it's definitely Friday today.
I'm offering odds on what I'm planning to have for tea, by the way. |

| Clue: vegetarians don't eat fish. Points go to Pete, since at the time I posted that I was going to have cauliflower cheese. Since then, however, I've spent a couple of hours in the pleasant company of two small people, followed by a couple of hours' nap. So I'm having a jacket potato. PS Knecht - I've never been called that before |

| *warning to all vegetarians - meat talk is about to ensue*
I've experienced a pretty depressing culinary disappointment this evening. I've had a beef madras on the go in the slow cooker since 1pm. Seven hours is usually plenty of time, even on a low setting, to get meat nice and tender.
To my dismay I've gone to serve it up, and most of it is tough as old boots.
Bugger.

| Fridge man (Hotpoint) did not turn up today as promissed, after waiting till 3-0-clock for a promissed morning visit I eventually got through on the phone after listening to lots of crappy music, pressing lots of buttons and a long wait to be told the part was out of stock and they do not have a delivery date. Have already been two weeks without a fridge. Got on to customer relations and raised merry hell, to be told they will try to outsource the part on Monday morning, will phone and let me know. If they cant get part they say they will replace the fridge. We shall see. |

| Off to Stratford upon Avon now for the day. To take in the culture, history and beauty of the birthplace of William Shakespeare. To see Anne Hathaway's cottage and the Elizabethan architecture, the serenity of the river, oh and to go horse-racing At least she was impressed with the description I gave her, then threw in the fact that there was racing there today |

| A gentle stroll around Mount Wise Park after lunch; a chance for me to blow a few cobwebs away, and a chance for #1 son to run himself ragged and wear himself out. |

| Stratford upon Avon is just beautiful, so glad we went. Everything looks neat and tidy and well kept. Friendly people and some great sights. Anyone going should take the time to check out the mechanical art and design museum. Just some of the wackiest contraptions and great fun. Topped off with an afternoon at the races where I backed 3 winners which paid for the whole day out and some to spare. Lovely little racecourse too, definitely going back this summer. Got home to find Nicholas Coelsarts had won the world matchplay golf, backed him at 14-1 and made £280 profit, I hope Czarcasm got on him as I advised him to on Thursday. About as non mundane a day as you can get, sorry for spoiling the thread |

| I know Stratford very well.
It's an almost schizophrenic place. On the one hand you have areas of lots of wealth & comfort. And yet there are also areas of pretty run-down housing. Also you have the tourist spots and the rest.
The area around the theatre & river is lovely. Taking the hand-pulled ferry across is fun.
You wait until the season starts properly and the streets are full of Americans and Japanese. |

No news on the cauliflower cheese front, though. |
