| I discovered that under the current rules I am too young to qualify for a bus-pass. Mixed feelings about that. |

| I think you can get a bus pass at any age, Knecht. I certainly used to get one regularly about ten years ago. Course, you have to be really old to get one for nothing.
One more week of paid work to go. It's been strange, wearing proper clothes every day. |

| It's another Mundane Sunday here in Casa Symons. Spouse and #1 son have gone into town, freeing me up to do as I please here at home. This involves a few cans of Koppaberg, and a severe work-out for the Sky remote, as I channel-hop between Cheltenham v Torquay, Celtic v Hearts and Bristol v Cornish Pirates. When those matches are over, that'll be my fix of sport for the day done, as I really couldn't care less who wins the Premiershi*. |

| I'm frequently reminded how glad I am not to be royalty. And never more so than when I hear my crazy blackbird welcoming me home.
I mean - one blackbird's great, but 24? |

I mean - one blackbird's great, but 24? They must feel safe around you, what with you being vegetarian. |

| Haven't seen the small people for nearly three weeks thanks to this paid work lark, and I'm missing them. Apparently they've been asking for me, too, which is very sweet.
Children always love a soft touch, don't they. |

Here is one for you Pete, man came to repair my TV yesterday and despite being told in detail what the problem was he turned up with completely the wrong part and it will be about another ten days before he will be here again, no wonder I am grumpy. |

| Whatever happened to the good old days when you knew what job people did just by their name?
We have a Fletcher not making arrows but managing a football club, Tommy Cooper didn't make barrels but was a funny magician, Rufus Wainwright is a singer who doesn't mend wagons and Roger Baker who can't make cakes for shit but can repair you're TV.
My mate Richard Funambulist can walk a tightrope but he decided to become a traffic warden.
The world's gone mad I tell you. |

| Can you imagine the Bayeaux Tapestry if when King Harold went to sort out his army with weapons and Carl Fletcher pops up and says "Well urm ya know sir I reckon you ought to go with a Christmas Tree formation" |
