Having contemplated this statement, I've concluded that this is not possible. Sorry. |

| Virgin Media are extremely mundane. No signal half of yesterday and again today.
No TV since 2pm yesterday, so I had to listen to the radio! In bleddy 2012 I was forced to listen to tennis on the radio. Still I haven't paid my bill in full all year, I keep telling them I'll pay all my bill when I can use all of the services I pay for.
Their latest offer to me was another 3 months services at half-price, which is all well and good but it's starting to get right on my tits now. |

| Went over to my mum's this afternoon to do a bit of light unpacking, tidying and cleaning. While I was doing said light work, something set her off reminiscing about her war service, the friends she'd lost and the hardships everybody endured. Then, on the way home, this came up on my music player. All of which got me thinking: our generation (and those after us), we don't know we're born, do we?
I also popped into Lidl to get some milk. |

I'm going out tomorrow. I'll see if there are any road-side stalls selling them. |

| I've an appointment in Thread-a-needle St tomorrow. Will report back. I am there to ask if the Bank of England might just quantitively ease Jonah's log jam. You might laugh, but it doesn't have to be paid back, we could be quids in.. |

| Giving up smoking is as mundane as it gets. Time drags, little things irritate me, everything I do would normally be followed by a cigarette, cup of coffee, snack, having a dump. I have a patch on, not like a pirate, and an electronic cigarette like the one that caused a major anti-terrorist scare on the M6 yesterday, but nothing is quite like the orgasmic sensation I imagine just one last cigarette will give me. When in all honesty it will be exactly the same as the other million or so I've had before, and will start that hacking cough and horrible breathless feeling only tobacco can give again. Sucking wine gums is ok, but I'm impatient and have to chew them, and I would normally have a cup of coffee now, but that would be great with a fag, so I'm back to do I have one last one with a nice cup of coffee, or carry on watching the golf and trying to say the players names in a voice that suits where they're from, like Thongchai Jaidee from Thailand and Raphael Jacquelin from France I might even go and wake Ian up from his nap because I'm bored. I sort of hope he has a nasty old nappy just to give me something to do. If this carries on I might even watch Bargain Hunt, actually that's not mundane unless it's a repeat. |

Hey Jocko, I never wore a patch when I gave it up. All you need is a GOOD reason to give up. I stopped once in my twenties when the price went up, but that only lasted a couple of years. I now haven't smoked for 6 years and will never do so again. The reason was I didn't like what the drug was doing to me... it became the enemy. I thought it relaxed me, but actually if I didn't have one for an hour, I would get agitated ..... quite the opposite. You must keep busy... that's important ... for the next couple of months, and suck a few sweets if you have to. It goes way quick enough, but it is certainly a difficult couple of months for those smokers that relied on it to give them 'structure' ... that's the bit that gets a lot of people. I was a great smoker, one of the best, but you have to know when to hang up your boots. Good luck. Don't ever ever accept 'just one' from a mate in a pub... ever. |

| Just finishing wrapping up a parcel that should have been posted on Wednesday. Not sure whether to walk or drive to the local Post Office, but either way, I've missed the last post.
Scrumpy Jack's chilling nicely in the fridge for later though. And an Aspalls (which they sell on draft down at the wonderful Coombe Cellars (which is worth a drive to, but food can be a bit hit & miss). |

As I said, I've had a couple of disappointments with the food, but when it's good it's great. Their website is here http://www.thecoombecellars.co.uk/ (is that allowed?) Jon |

Good stuff it is too. I'm brewing my own at them moment but the first bottle was far too sweet and fizzy. It might be a while before I am able to give up purchasing cider elsewhere |

I was waivering slightly but now I will go and do something useful instead. My asthma is getting worse and in the morning I can hardly breathe yet still make a coffee and cigarette first thing in the morning. I had a chest x-ray two weeks ago which has shown an abnormality in my left lung, which could be something or nothing, but I have a little boy to think about as well and I don't want to miss him growing up for the sake of a stinking fag. |

Yeah well I was keeping a straight face for the camera Got some alcoholic cranberry and another cider on the go at the moment, and I'm hoping practice makes perfect. Also got to plug Cornish Orchard Scrumpy, which fortune has it, can be obtained through our own Andy Symons, absolutely cracking stuff and not as strong as Westons which was sending me a little loopy |

| All this splendid cider talk is soooooo out of place on mundane.
Westons Vintage is the daddy. Quite how they can brew something at 8.2% vol that still tastes gorgeous is sheer genius.
I'm currently drinking the 2nd of 3 bottles of Rattler the kids got me for fathers day, that I'd forgotten about. Marvellous.
To go all mundane again, the Met office has issued a 'code red' severe weather warning for tomorrow. Mildly interesting as I don't recall seeing a red one before...

| Czar - know what you mean but just to add that the-also-excellent but utterly honest Hunting Lodge near Ivybridge has Rattler (as well as Thatchers Vintage (which to be honest I prefer)) on draft.
Breaking my own rule of posting after two too many ciders tonight.... think I've got a Thatchers Gold out in the garage somewhere...... |
