Anybody else re watch the Devon and Cornwall fishing program this week? Filmed before Brexit it's a real fly on the wall doc about real people. All the fishermen were worried they'd be sold out at the last minute, which has pretty well happened. Last nights program was a real insight into why ordinary working people voted out, following the new ex navy Harbour master around he suddenly announced he was applying for a £6.5m EU grant to redesign parts of the harbour yet despite working on his plan for nine months hadn't shown it to one single boat owner, fisherman, processer or worker. They all said it was a load of bollocks and actually had a plan already passed by planners that they wanted to go for instead. The harbourmaster said "there is no plan B it's my plan or no plan" in true Brent type fashion. He actually had the gall to say that if you involve the fishermen it would just make things difficult and anyway it was "his" harbour and he wasn't there to win any popularity contests. In the end he didn't get his bid and blamed those pesky fishermen for insisting they need to park their vans where he had planned to build industrial units to rent out.
What was really surprising is that despite being the biggest port in Cornwall loads of boats decide to land their fish in Plymouth because the have a digital auction.
People are so tied up with red tape, managed by wankers like the Navy guy who knows feck all about fishing or man management and working in simply outdated markets which have cost millions in EU funding to keep loads of people in the dark ages.
Is it any wonder they voted out?

Yes Ears, thought the same about the ex navy boy with his condescending approach to his minions lol.

Is this a series or was it a one-off? I saw an episode with a younger lad trying to get his skippers licence and there were a load of Latvians crewing boats??

What is the programme actually called cos I was trying to search it?

If you have BT tv you can scroll back up to 7 days on the guide and watch things you missed.

Yeah I’ve got SkyQ I just needed to know what it was called to search it. Thanks/OK

The new series of Cornwall this fishing life started last night with the timeline being just after lockdown starting. Very interesting with the worries of tourists returning and the loss of the overseas markets for fish and shellfish. Can I just say "way to go Buck and his Missus" music to my fookin ears! Firstly he declined to cry like a bitch when the lockdown happened and instead took to Facebook and soon started to deliver his shellfish to the public direct. His missus who was running a nail bar started picking crab raising their take from £1.50/kg to £40/kg and at the end of the program they were buying fish from other boats to keep up with the demand. Everybody in the program ended up having a good season even the guy with the cafe that got shut down in the harbour who invited loads of pop up food stalls a stunt he will repeat next year.
The backbone of our country the self employed will carry us through the pandemic and Brexit, maybe the Government will give us the tools we need to thrive now like fit for purpose broadband and mobile signal?

Should see Sterling rise into the $1.40's over the coming weeks

Classic Harve!

It appears Boris has fecked over all his pals who you assured us were shorting Sterling using insider info from Boris himself.

Can you explain?

Don’t hold your breath on that one Ricks, he never responds when he’s been so obviously called out.

Graiser you're a complete gormless prick
Go back and feckin read that all along I've hoped for a deal and to see Sterling rise. Its only been absolute roasters like Ears that have demanded Boris to "walk away"..... If Johnson has shafted his hedge fund mates than well played to him but the pressure on him was huge to (hopefully) complete the deal.

How did the sterling short go Harve?

Project fear was a big nail in the coffin of the remain camp, quite ludicrous the claims being made and I haven't seen Blair or Major anywhere saying "I told you this would happen" when it clearly hasn't.

The true cost of Brexit starting to hit home hard now with all the additional charges being levied on UK companies selling to EU customers and vice versa. UK companies will go bust and prices here will go up. We need a serious government to take over from Bozo and the useless tories to start moves to rejoin the EU.

Although I left this thread a long time ago its becoming clear to vast swathes of the country that we were all conned.
I remember back in November saying wait until the 2nd week of January when reality dawns

You dont need a twitter account to watch this 44 second video interaction from the Commons.....If you’ve not seen this, you might want to sit down before you hear the utter contempt this Government holds for its own people

As I said above Freathy reality has dawned. Ebay users buying from overseas are suddenly seeing quite enormous fees levied at customs as are all transactions it seems
Perhaps the likes of this Mouldy character could name say 5 benefits of this Brexit seeing as according to the oaf running the show we'd all be much better off....

Now we're into the 4th week of January and at £350 million a week to the NHS I make that £1.4 Billion to date in a cheque (am assuming Boris will obviously declare it paid soon as everybody is waiting but am sure he never lies) so cmon then Mouldy name another 4 and counting a blue/black passport doesnt count

Out of interest on a financial forum yesterday I asked the same question. Some bright spark said well Sterling has risen against the Dollar to recent highs.

I retorted by asking what level Sterling/Dollar was the day before the referendum.....end of that thread lol

Anyway over to you Mouldy.....just four

They didn't even have the correct figure on the bus, it's actually £250 million per week paid to the EU as Bozo was later forced to admit. No mention of how much we got back through various EU funding programmes including assistance to economically disadvantaged areas (like Plymouth and Cornwall).

I am convinced once we get rid of Bozo (which will be sooner rather than later) there will be a shift more to the centre in the tory government and the swivel eyed brexiteers in the cabinet like the prick in that clip will be ditched and replaced by moderates as the tories begin to see which way the wind is blowing once the brexit economic catastrophe really begins to bite. Sir Keir says Labour are not a re-join party (yet) but I think they would do very well to at least have rejoining the Single Market as their number one policy- it will be a sure fire winner.

No it won’t, the fixation with that bus is beyond me, no way did it influence me nor anyone else I know who voted leave, I’ve wanted to leave that corrupt cartel for years, what’s surprising is all the alledged corrupt allegations being laid at Boris’s door by Harve and his Twitter Labour mates and yet the corruption within the EU that’s been going on for years passes by with mention.

All the outrage is from a minority on Facebook and twatter surrounded by people with a similar view who then think there is huge outrage everywhere and there isn't. Bojo got his landslide win because Labour ignored the will of it's party members and flip flopped over Brexit and they deserted in droves. You all asked for second referendum and the last general election was it. What's next best of five?

The real figures were we gave the EU approx £20bn a year and they gave approx £12bn back in grants. I mean who could argue with a 40% admin fee?

Hold on why should I jump to your demands? For months now people have been asking you to show the evidence to what you have been posting and you have ignored it. You have posted lie after lie after lie. You post tweets from people who’s only agenda has been to undermine the will of the people of the Uk who voted in a referendum about leaving the eu. A majority of which said yes.

Your ignoring of posters asking for proof doesn’t stop with this thread but others like the Covid thread where you slag off the government and Boris over their handling of the epidemic. Yes, mistakes have been made but as it has been pointed out to you what would a labour government led by Corbin have done? Well I think the post about corbyn and vaccine for other countries is a good indication of what it would have been like. A leader and government that hates Britain who would give away all of our vaccine to others who in his sick and twisted mind are more deserving than us.

Another thread is about Tory corruption but you ignore everyone else’s including your own when you post about bunging your doctor a few quid to get a vaccination before your time. Is that alright? You ignore the corruption of the spanish health minister, his wife and 400 of his staff being jabbed before the old and those others in front of them. Is that alright? Above I wrote about those with an agenda to keep us in the eu. Why would they do that? So they can keep their snouts in the trough of backhanders and grants that’s why. Is that alright?

In short you are a loser of the biggest order. You say you campaigned to leave, you voted to leave and now you want to stay in the eu which in my book is beyond contempt. You make out you are some sort of financial wizard but those of us who have been here a long time know what that really means. You are our very own donald trump who wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him. A ‘trump’ means to fart and a fart comes out of an arse and shit comes out of an arse mostly.  So basically you talk shit most of the time.
