BORIS JOHNSON'S decision to immediately ban pulse fishing in UK waters following the end of the Brexit transition period has been hailed by Brexiteers, as the Prime Minister kick-starts his plan for Britain outside of the European Union.

Mr Johnson has wasted no time following the end of the transition period to appease fishermen who had expressed fears over what the conceded to the EU in negotiations.

The method was banned in Feb 2019, allowing it only to be used for "research".

The Government could have banned it then, or at any time since but left it until now, perhaps so it could be presented as a positive demonstration of sovrinty.

Could it be that now we are not part of eu that trawlers would do it in our waters and our hero has stopped it?

Before yesterday EU trawlers could only use the method in controlled areas, any country could ban it from their waters, foreign owned but UK flagged trawlers were fitted with the equipment to enable them to fish in our waters.

EU super-trawlers are to be banned from plundering fish from British waters.

Ministers will demonstrate they are back in full control of our coasts with a post-Brexit crackdown on factory ships.

The vast vessels — often longer than a football pitch — use nets up to one-mile in length to catch hundreds of tons of fish every day.

But they have been blamed for large numbers of dead dolphins and porpoises washed up on our shores.

Brits also complain they dominate the main fishing grounds, making it difficult for them to compete.

The Northern Celt, from County Donegal, was boarded by a Marine Scotland patrol boat on 4 January, Irish broadcaster RTÉ reports.

Its captain Adrian McClenaghan was told he can no longer fish within 12 nautical miles of the eroded volcano as a result of Brexit.

In channel we have another fishery patrol boat joining the fleet, call Ocean Marlin. Just off Dover

Scotland has maintained a Fisheries Protection Fleet for many years.

Here in Spain, we can no longer buy English turnips - Brexit regulations apparently. Which is bad news because Spanish turnips are terrible.
