Interesting they kept him, maybe the players have more respect for him? Probably so. Wotton was part of the problem and had to go too. The dressing room had clearly been lost.
Too little too late though I reckon. Adams legacy will be one of leaving us where he found us, in division 4 - because this relegation will be on his head.
Say what you like about Hallet, but I’m pretty sure if Bent was still at the helm he’d be sitting on his hands, baulking at the potential payout of a four year contract. Argyle aren’t down yet don’t forget, so any relegation clause reducing Adams pay-off wouldn’t have been triggered. Kudos to Hallett for that.
Someone on free chat was telling me they only have to pay a year's salary to DA. Don't know whether that's correct but if brent drew up the contract, it almost certainly is......................and the rest him |

| Terrible manager and clearly had to go but hallett and 30% must also shoulder the blame for this completely avoidable relegation. Among other things why did hallett wait until we were relegated? |

| Was an untenable situation, even the current board could see that, now in last chance saloon with Nance, bit surprised Wotton went as well, but then he was second in charge. As others have said probably too late, for me he should have gone after the Luton tonking, still we will see on Saturday. |

Zackly Freathy. I think there will be a lot of fans with slightly bemused looks on their faces when the next manager has his hands tied by the mankover, signs a load of injury ridden elderly players and we start off to the start of another terrible season. There is a lot wrong with the club and it's not all Adams. |

| I’m hoping we go for someone with the polar opposite footballing ethos to Adams. You can just about stick it when we’re winning. But otherwise it’s pretty draining to watch. |

i doubt adams got a big payoff triggers or not as it was a mutual thing so he would have accepted less then hes owed otherwise he could have forced the club to sack him outright for the full amount. i see pasoti types on social are writing eulogies to adams which makes me thinki they are planning another whip round to buy him a pen like with peter reid. I pray i dont see a thanks adams banner on saturday pafc display.

Relegation would have obviously meant the clauses inserted would have resulted in a huge drop in dismissal payout. So he’s clearly accepted the sack, and a slightly enhanced payoff while we’re technically still not down. The bottom line is, he knows he’s lost the dressing room and ain’t willing to take a financial gamble. |

| Turning to next season its hard to see who of the players will be left. Ladapo is off to London, Carey and Lameris are almost certainly gone anyway. I'd keep Songo and frankly thats just about it. I think Sarcevic and Taylor are under contract so we're likely stuck with them
Whoever comes in has a huge job in rebuilding |

| Ladapo is under contract for another season so unless a bid comes in he's going nowhere. |

| Would anyone really be sad to see a wholesale clear out in the summer? It was Adams biggest fault doing the rebuilds but we are where we are. We only have a handful of decent players and watch the board snap up Plymouth prices soon. There's a Grandstand to invest in don't you know? |

| Bent, Hallett, DA all culpable for this mighty predictable mess. Best scenario is we stay up and a sensible rebuilding happens by someone who is not a yes man. |

Got to look at it as a new beginning. Hard to ever recall a manager being dismissed to such complete agreement from all. Zero dissent apart from that fruit I screenshotted earlier Secure 3 points Saturday is priority one and let Southend do their best no matter what. If we scrape by than a lesson learnt never to let one individual hold such power over the club ever again Brent should hold his head in shame make no mistake. Its zero wonder why he has such a catastrophic business record |

| Wasn't Adams going a "mutual consent "...so some compromise agreed over his remaining contract pay-off ? |

| Reported as both Wotty and DA going by mutual consent, indicating a compromise payment of some kind. |

Agreed but the 5 year deal was ludicrous and only someone so deficient as Brent would have sanctioned it |

| Hallett has made a good start to his Chairman role in my book. As for the players they basically stopped playing and that is unforgivable as it is us who reaps the hurt..... |

| I agree Del had to go, no argument but I will always feel Hallett is culpable as well hoping a fith from bottom budget was adequate. It's almost as though that's where he was aiming for. |

Agreed but the 5 year deal was ludicrous and only someone so deficient as Brent would have sanctioned it To this day I believe brent gave him that 5yr deal and more control football as scapegoat so he could get on with his other shit and Adams gets all the blame and jimmy carry’s on as normal..but it backfired cos jimmy fecked his own shit up and had to step down from the chair...saltrock goes tits up the same day and now still lurking in the theatre schemes as if his blameless in all this |

| I logged into my PASOTI account for the first time in ages. Firstly, what the feck has happened to the site? It's a total balls up now and full of crappy adverts. IJN must be raking it in while users are hating the site. Secondly, Mark Matthews on PASOTI has posted the most incredible thing I've seen in a long time. He would like Nancekivel given the job, and wanted him given the job earlier in the season! But he would accept John Gregory or Chris Hargreaves by MarkMatthews » Mon Apr 29, 2019 2:35 pm I’ve got an awful feeling that with being how international Hallett is, we are going to get lumped with a foreign manager which I would wholeheartedly oppose. Voted for Johnson myself of that list. Has to be someone with bags of experience for me would love Warnock or John Gregory but can’t see either, wouldn’t be against Holloway either. A shame we didn’t sack Adams earlier and give Nancekivell the caretaker role because he is one from the “young, hungry inexperienced” school who I would be interested to see what they could do with the job. I also would be interested to see Chris Hargreaves have a crack at a club that isn’t in complete and utter chaos, to the extent Torquay are. He also goes on to say that he would rather have David Pleat or Gerry Francis as Spurs manager instead of Pochettino IF we manage to survive come Saturday night I would really love to see us appoint someone who hasn't been on the management carousel for years already but one exception to that would be Nigel Pearson who is currently unemployed so no compensation would need to be paid. Pearson has been a coach under some decent managers and then gone on to manage some big clubs. He has won League 1 with Leicester and got them promoted to the PL. He's also done OK at Hull City after they got relegated to the Championship and had money issues. He actually did really well there under the circumstances and then went back to Leicester where he performed a miracle to keep them up before getting sacked over something his son did out in Thailand with a few other players. Ranieri took over and won the PL but a lot of people in the know say that Pearson was a major factor in Leicester winning the league. He went to Derby and had a fall out with their owner so was never really given a chance before heading out to manage a Belgian 2nd division club owned by Leicester's owner and the King Power organisation. If he's prepared to manage in the Belgian 2nd division surely he would be interested in our job IF we can stay up? He must still have a good relationship with the Leicester owner so he would be able to get us some decent youngsters on loan and he had 18 months managing in Belgium so he might know of a few wee nuggets as Luggy used to call them. The team he managed in Belgium, OH Leuven, currently have George Hirst in their squad. He's the son of David Hirst and was wanted by some big clubs before he headed to Belgium. He's still only 20 and again might be interested in coming back to England now that Pearson has left the club. Players do tend to follow managers around so you never know. We would only be a stepping stone for Pearson if we could get him but that's true of every player and manager these days and if he moves onto better things then it means he had success with us. I would like Simon Hallett to bust a gut to look at someone like him who has so much experience and success as a player and a manager. Meanwhile Mark Matthews would welcome us appointing John Gregory who's most recent job in the UK was as Crawley manager 4 and a half years ago. Since then he has been managing in India, and between 2007 and 2013, when he became Crawley manager , he managed in Israel and Kazakhstan. If that is the kind of appointment that some Argyle fans want then I feckin despair. Gregory played 3 games for us about a hundred years ago so that makes him an ideal candidate for us now. |
