There will be no warm weather training camp in Marbella for Plymouth Argyle this season, with all finance being pumped into the Grandstand redevelopment.

Manager Derek Adams has a history of taking his sides abroad, which stems back to his time in charge of Ross County.

Typically, Argyle have done well after coming back from their training time in Spain and have picked up good results.

But any chance of improving results this season will have to be done with hard work at Harpers Park instead.

The side rubbed shoulders with some of the top teams from Norway during their warm weather training camp on Spain’s Costa del Sol last season.

There was also a chance for Adams to watch Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan in action.

The Argyle squad were based at the Marbella Football Center and stayed in the same hotel as Molde, the 2017 Norwegian Eliteserien runners-up.

Asked whether there was any chance of his team going abroad next month, Adams said: "There’s not because of finance and we haven’t progressed in the FA Cup, so we don’t have any extra finance there.

"The stadium is taking up a lot of finance so it is not going to be possible for us because we need all the resources going into the stadium and we haven’t generated that through an FA Cup run.

"It is what it is. I have always gone away in the January, February period to allow us to have a bit of time away from the ground.

"It has worked well for us over the years, when I was at Ross County and we were here, we always had very good second halves to the season."

That 5 year deal must be a good one. And of course, he has his own alibi for future employers when things don't improve.  Everyone's a winner, apart from the fans that pay the money. Well according to Head of Redevelopment (Operations) back on July 28, Portakabins just needed a bit of finessing and fine tuning, and we will all be wowed by the end of September. Is anybody at the club capable of telling the truth?

I'm no brentocabin expert, but they look new on the outside.
