That was the idea with Brent finding an additional million from club funds but as in my opinion no seats will be put on the Mayflower terrace (for now) its probably been aborted as well |

| Surely makes sense to extend the roof during the refurbishment? Because the corners will never get filled so no point waiting. Wonder if the ice rink will be built on a budget too? Only half the rink will have ice because it’s ‘ not needed and can be extended at a later date’? |

| I thought the million for the roof was just to repair it. _______________________________________ COYG!

| Well there you go Seadog, even us fans that have been following most of what Brent has been saying or not saying, don't know exactly what is proposed. No surprise there then given his obfuscation ever since he rocked at Home Park, changing public agendas as and when it suited. ( "I've never considered buying the stadium freehold" after years owning the club ) I personally understand that the new roof will not be extended forward to cover everyone seating in the replaced Mayflower terrace. Of course the old roof has always covered more than the grandstand, including a good quarter of the old terrace where the exec boxes were built ( the terrace used to go back a lot further originally ). Most of us used to huddle at the back when the rains came if there was room.. The new directors box is going to be down there now as well I understand, outside the existing exec boxes. Basically the most of the bottom tier of "three tiers" will get soaked, not that I personally ever had a problem with that while it was a standing terrace. It was sitting down in the rain that was a problem. However, there's another nuance that isn't clear on the drawings I've seen, given I'm blowed if I'm going to waste my time trawling every bit of stuff out there. It's related to just how much of the Mayflower side of the stadium is considered the "grandstand" and whether the grandstand "new £1 million roof" will cover the extra funny bit at the Barn Park End for the first time. This is related to my concerns that the "corners" of the stadium, that Brent may well try and appropriate at some stage, are rather bigger than some realise. Here's a photo of the bit I mean from the Newcastle cup tie back a few years, and while it would appear that seating at the lower terrace will be where the standing terrace is shown , it's not clear if the roof is going to be extended sideways to cover the top bit. That would make sense and explain some of the million cost, but Brent doesn't do sense where other motivations kick in. I have seen some fag packet plans that shows the top bit being built up higher and covered with a roof, maybe a new facility.. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| The way I read it was the 1 million was for repairs to the existing roof, nowt to do with the new mankover. _______________________________________ COYG!

| Here's a lifted view from somewhere that shows some nonsense being built down at the Barn Park end of the grandsatnd, above the terracing. That looks like a new building to me ( not the taverner portacabin ), maybe media stuff/gulag lookout tower for Punchy infiltration ( Je suis aussi ), and an extended roof sideways to cover it. ? ..... or not ? ....sort of ..... or is it just a perspective thing ? That monstrous iggledePIGgledy building is a joke and would suggest a Brent mindset that he's got other plans for the Barn Park corner rather than a continued stadium seated terrace one day. In fact his plans for the phase 2 thing don't include that building .... or do they ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| The grandstand roof extends towards the barn park end to align with the terrace, the white blank square thingy is media facility, the shit in the barn park corner is players dressing room etc, players will enter the field from that corner, the roof is not being extended past the edge of the terrace, the roof is not being extended over the terrace, the million pounds was to repair the existing roof amongst other things. Brent is holding out for safe standing in the corners, cos cheaper innit.

| While Brent has other plans I suspect, I'd be happy with new standing areas anywhere, although I'm not so sure about the silly modern PC "safe standing" routine that's been designed more from a steel manufacture angle than actually allowing what standing and free safe flow of fans is all about. Just a pale version of sitting down, as many people do now already. Haven't seen any "safe standing" going up at most sporting events. You can even swim while watching cricket !! Safe standing is manufacturing industry driven, just like kids playgrounds, not driven by grass root desire and community facility and considered safety. I understand the AFT and many other trusts are pushing the ludicrous safe standing cattle pens. They really need to stop bowing their heads in some historic guilt routine ( the Taylor report did not blame standing for the tragedy ), look to scientific and historical evidence, and demand better. Stand up and be counted. And then walk over to your friend during the game and have a chat if the football's crap. Unwaranted institutionalised guilt from the top, down. Ironically, some of the main under the radar reasons for introducing all seated stadia, security and marketing, have moved on at break neck pace. There's no need to identify you by your seat number anymore. |

| Are they going to cover the end terrace at the barn park end with a roof in line with grandstand or are they going to remove that terrace and add it to the future corner building plot? |

| I see the steels are going up at Brentonside, if it wasn't for that pesky development we could've had a brand spanking new 10mill grandstand |

My thoughts exactly - how the hell has someone been paid to cook up that crock of shite. It looks like something that group of excitable 10 year old reporters that work at the Evnin Arold would come up with. FFS. |
