What a night!
It was absolutely blisteringly hot both literally and metaphorically.
We got there early and had a wander around down by the Gunwharf/Dockyard went into a couple of pubs there before going up to the Good Companions where I managed to miss about a dozen people who it turned out were there too.
On to the game and it was proper full-on stuff on the pitch and off it. By far the loudest game I've been to in tears.
Not much to add to the eye-witness accounts already given. I though Luke was pretty secure for all but one shot which hit the post but was always wide and outside the goal so no real worries there.
I didn't think it was a penalty. I'm not convinced Hartley fouled him at all and if he did he was outside the box anyway.
That said Pompey, team and support, put us under huge pressure and something was always likely to give and that was what did.
Credit to both sides and sets of fans for producing a simply brilliant game of football. It's when you see a match like that that you remember why you got hooked in the first place.
They won 2-1 down here; we won 2-1 up there; 2-2 in the play-off away leg. That makes it 5-5 on aggregate over 3 games so far. There's nothing to separate the teams and it could go either way.
It'd be nice to see the penalty count even up though - they lead us 3-0 on that measure. Which means we're winning 5-2 on goals scored in open play.
