Stinkier than Dogbreath "Pongo" McArmpit after a night out drinking scrumpy and eating pickled garlic with a couple of kippers in his boxer shorts.

That HMRC boss Edward Troup connection is incredible. It gets dirtier by the second. When it was said "we're all in it together", I think they meant just their little gang. Has anything much changed since Edward Longshanks ?

This will be a laugh, Cameron to face MPs to sort out tax evasion, I expect he'll get quite tough on it from now on. Very Happy

Politicians of all persuasions are out to reduce their tax bills, Labour and, I suspect, Nigel Farage included.

Keir Starmer, who was the director of public prosecutions until 2013, once said that people were more interested in "complicated, sophisticated tax avoidance schemes" than a certain Mr E Miliband's arrangements after his fathers death. Well, I can't argue with that.

Mr Miliband's arrangements being that he, his brother David and their mother agreed to make a 'posthumous amendment' to the will of Ralph Miliband, the brothers father.

Under this change, the brothers each received a 20pc share in the family home. This reduced Mrs Milibands share from 100pc to 60pc, this would ultimately reduce the inheritance tax on her estate.

This legal device used by the Miliband family was called a "deed of variation" which, I imagine, would net the brothers Miliband more than the £19,000 than Cameron came by.

The fact still remains that PAYE means that we meer peasants are paying our share, whereas the ruling class, no matter what political persuasion are taking us for cnuts.

It is also a fact that David Cameron is the Prime Minister which puts him in a rather different position on this than anybody else one might care to name.

Hague says we're all at it, well let you know about it but just chill,
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Mr Hague told BBC Radio 4's Today programme "we live in an age of greater transparency" and "the answer is not to fight that age, it has arrived and it will come all the more".

But he said a "mature acceptance" was needed by the public that someone's personal finances will not necessarily determine their leadership abilities.

Lol to that, as said above its not about Tory did this Labour did that it's about fairness, Millibands should pay their fair share as we proles do, as should Blair as should Cameron. If it turns out the last government leaders dodged tax not only should they pay the tax they should be "sanctioned" the same as benefit scroungers (although it could be argued that benefit scroungers need the money whilst the politicians earning about £200k a year don't).
I just can't see why so many people justify this theft of the national coffers by people that should be setting an example?

Elizabeth Warren is the Democrat senator for Massachusetts in the US senate.

This is another good quote on the matter.

One of the reasons the Panama scandal is so damaging is that Conservatism has positioned itself as moralist: there’s a lot of talk about what’s right and fair. In practice, this rightness and fairness is only seen as being something deserved by “hardworking families”, who “speak English”. So there’s an implicit rejection of the foundation of morality: universality. When you look at it like that, Conservatives raging against human rights is actually completely consistent. They don’t believe that everybody deserves what’s right and fair, just those who conform to their idea of normal. And let’s not forget they have their ideas of normal forged in the public school system, a bloody crucible of hierarchical sodomy.

Of course, they totally feck over hardworking families who speak English as well, because once you’ve abandoned the key principle of morality, you’ve actually adopted a mindset quite close to that of a sociopath. I mean, we think of them all as jolly millionaire mal vivants, but they’re much more dreadful than that. I’m ashamed to say that, at my worst, I think maybe hardworking, English-speaking families who voted for Cameron deserve what they get, because they chose to believe a serial killer when he told them that they were his favourite.

You see that one in action on the pages of this fair forum, "pinkoe, lefty, mental, pissed, on meds" is levelled at anyone who doesn't conform to their particular mindset, dress code and preprogrammed way of thinking, you've got to laugh.

I can remember, albeit vaguely, that during my years defending the nation at various foreign cocktail parties courtesy of HM and one of her magnificent war canoes, that the issue of members of the RN not paying tax when deployed was in the headlines. The idea was torpedoed and sunk faster than the Belgrano.
I also think that the Merchant Navy (incl RFA) do not pay tax when at sea and it was that anomaly that got the RN members thinking about it.!
As for Panama - well all I know is that one chap had to eat medication all day for weeks to rid himself of an infection before we got home after 6 months - laugh

Serious question...  Why don't you do what the rich have done to avoid tax?

Because I'd have to move my elderly unwell parents out of their home, gift myself the money and hope they didn't die in the next seven years, only a capitalist would do that. I don't want to avoid paying my due but I expect to rich to pay their share also, what's so hard to understand? We have to pay tax, all of us, I don't know the last time you were in blighty but the potholes are like craters, maintenance of all sorts of infrastructure is being postponed, Derriford hospital is cancelling 90% of operations in neurosurgery per week because of bed blocking caused by cuts to the social care budget and you are advocating all of us stopping paying our taxes as well? I never had you down as stupid Ricks, selfish obvs. goes with the capalist dream but not stupid.

feck me...  All I did was ask you a honest question.  You answered that in your first sentence.  God knows where the rest of it came from?

You and SFD need to chill.  This hatred for the rich is clouding your judgement about normal people who are just a little different than you.

PS.  Thanks for breaking the news to me that I'm selfish.  I never knew. Funny what you can learn on the internet.

What hatred of the rich? All I ask is that they pay tax like we do, like benifit scroungers do, like pensioners do, is it so hard to grasp what my beef is?

I didnt know benefit scroungers paid tax ?

Everybody pays tax.

How can you dodge VAT (I think EVERY single VAT rise has been implemented by a Tory chancellor, including Osborne who raised it from 17.5% to 20%, by the way)?

Anyway...

Benefits are taxable income as will be your pension if they don't steal that off you. The only thing you can legally avoid paying tax on is millions in earnings but it does need to be millions.
