PLYMOUTH Argyle’s game against Carlisle United is in danger of being postponed as flooding continues to hit Lancashire.

The venue has been switched from the damaged Brunton Park to Blackburn’s Ewood Park, however the Championship clubs pitch was waterlogged at the weekend.

Officials from both clubs will have discussions to see if the game against the Pilgrims can go ahead as planned on January 2.

Further rain is expected to hit Lancashire on Wednesday and Thursday so members of the Green Army should look out for updates.

Spokesman Andy Hall said: “We are planning on talking to Blackburn on Wednesday and Thursday when the next weather front is due.

“Until then we will let them get on with things and hope the pitch, and the surrounding areas, recover as well as we all hope.”

Carlisle United are expecting Saturday’s ‘home’ game at Blackburn to be on despite the threat of more heavy rain and flooding from Storm Frank.

The Blues say they are in “constant contact” with Ewood Park officials over the staging of the clash with League Two leaders Plymouth.

It is the second of three home fixtures being staged away from flood-hit Brunton Park, with the first at Deepdale, against Notts County, having drawn a 3,336 crowd.

Lancashire bore the brunt of last weekend’s storms and, like Cumbria, is today bracing itself for more.

United’s sales and marketing director Phil King said: “We are in constant contact with the guys of Blackburn and while the worst of the weather may be coming [today], we aren’t envisaging any issues at the moment.

“But we will be keeping in touch with them to remain updated.

Just wondering, how often were matches called off when Ewood Park was hosting premiereshite fixtures?
